Sitting on a truck platform that includes a front independent and rear live axle suspension, the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500HD SLE1 is a rear-wheel drive, full-size, half-ton pickup that can tow up to 10,300 pounds and hold over 3000 pounds in its 6.5-foot pickup bed. The Crew Cab has four doors and seats up to six people in two rows (the rear bench split-folds). Powered by a 6.0-liter, 300-hp V8 and 4-speed HydraMatic transmission, it produces 360 lb-ft of torque. 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, 16-inch wheels, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, foglights, and dual front airbags are standard. Side airbags are not offered, but you can add mirrors with turn signals, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a locking differential.
The 2006 Sierra 1500HD SLE1 comes with full power features, cruise control, a CD player and radio that provides song data, keyless entry, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, privacy glass, a security system, and a temperature display. Console and seatback storage, cupholders, and a front power outlet are passenger-oriented. There are plenty of options for the SLE1, including a trip computer, a power driver's seat, wheel-mounted audio controls, satellite radio, OnStar, and leather seats. The pickup bed can be outfitted with tie-downs, a cover, a bed extender, and a trailer hitch.
