CarGurus Overview

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab 6.5 ft. SB

Blending a bit of luxury with pickup utility, the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab SB is a good fit for those who don't want to sacrifice comfort for functionality. The two-door, rear-wheel-drive pickup seats three in a front-row bench (bucket seats are optional) and comes with a 6.5-foot cargo bed equipped with tow hooks. The SLE1 Regular Cab upgrades from the SL1 with full power features, heated mirrors, remote entry, leather trim on the steering wheel and shifter, a compass and temperature readout, and upgraded cloth upholstery. These are in addition to already standard cruise control, a CD player with radio data, intermittent wipers, tilt and power steering, a front power outlet, and a tachometer. Satellite radio is optional.

The pickup is powered by a 4.8-liter, 285-hp V8 with 295 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. This is matched to a 4-speed automatic. A 5.3-liter V8, available in a flex fuel version, is optional. An optional trailer hitch allows you to tow up to 8,400 pounds. The SLE1 rides on 17-inch chrome wheels with all-season tires.

Safety equipment includes 4-wheel ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front airbags with passenger deactivation, a front stabilizer bar, and automatic headlights. The SLE1 adds standard foglights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. However, this pickup earns average marks in crash tests. Traction control is available as an option, along with a locking rear differential and skid plates. New SLE1 options include OnStar, alloy wheels, and mirrors with turn signals.

There are many more options for the SLE1, including a power driver's seat with memory settings, a trip computer, and wheel-mounted audio controls.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab 8 ft. LB

The 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab LB substitutes an 8-foot cargo bed for the 6.5-foot standard one, increasing cargo capacity while maintaining interior cabin space. The longer bed increases overall length by 19 inches. The two-door, rear-wheel-drive pickup seats three in one row, but comes nicely equipped with full power features, remote entry, heated extendable mirrors, and leather steering-wheel trim. A temperature display and compass join the tachometer. Also standard are cruise control, a CD player, intermittent wipers, tilt and power steering, a security system, and a front power outlet. Upgraded options include satellite radio, a power driver's seat with memory settings, wheel-mounted audio controls, and a trip computer.

Bucket seats can be substituted for the front-row bench. A rear sliding window is also available. The pickup gets its juice from a 285-hp, 4.8-liter V8 and 4-speed automatic, with the option to add a 5.3-liter, 295-hp V8 with flex fuel capability. 17-inch steel wheels are standard, but alloy wheels are available. The SLE1 adds foglights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror to the lighting package, which includes automatic headlights.

A front disc and rear drum brake setup comes with 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution. Dual front airbags earn three and four stars in crash tests. The SLE1 adds more safety options, such as mirrors with turn signals, OnStar, skid plates, a locking rear differential, traction control, and a trailer hitch to tow up to 8,200 pounds.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab 4WD 8 ft. LB

By day a work truck, the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab 4WD LB has a surprising number of high-end comfort features for a pickup. This half-ton model features on-demand 4WD with low-range gearing, a center differential, 8.4 inches of ground clearance, and 17-inch steel wheels with all-season tires. Able to perform off-road, it can also be outfitted with a heavy-duty suspension and skid plates. A 4.8-liter V8 gets 285 hp and 295 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM, with 16/19 mpg. A 4-speed automatic is the only transmission (no 5-speed manual option). Also offered is a 5.3-liter, 295-hp V8. It can tow 8,900 pounds with the optional trailer hitch. Tow hooks are standard.

The Regular Cab means one row of seats, but 19 more inches of overall length allow for an 8-foot cargo bed. Front passengers are treated to power windows, locks, and heated extendable mirrors, as well as remote entry, cruise control, a CD player, leather trim, and a front power outlet.

Convenience features include a trip computer on the dash, along with a compass and temperature display, a tachometer, and intermittent wipers. A security system is also in place. For a bit more flash, you can add satellite radio with audio controls on the steering wheel, privacy glass, and a power driver's seat with memory settings. Making things fancy on the outside are a chrome grille and  bumpers, with the option to add alloy wheels.

Upgrading from the SL1, the safety profile adds standard foglights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, plus more options such as OnStar and mirrors with turn signals. An average crash test rating (four and three stars) comes from the minimum safety features. These include dual front airbags, 4-wheel ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, a front stabilizer bar, and automatic headlights. Traction control is not offered with the 4WD models.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab 4WD 6.5 ft. SB

The 4WD system in the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular Cab 4WD SB moves you up to an on-demand full-time system (Autotrac) that comes with automatic locking hubs and a center differential. Equipped with high- and low-range gearing, this half-ton pickup is a capable off-roader as well, and the optional skid plates help with its 8.4 inches of ground clearance. A locking rear differential is also optional.

The 2006 Sierra 1500 SLE1 Regular 4WD SB seats three in one front-row bench, though bucket seats can be substituted. The cargo bed measures 6.5 feet and comes with tow hooks. Towing capacity reaches 9,100 pounds with the 4.8-liter, 285-hp V8 and 4-speed automatic, though a flex fuel 295-hp, 5.3-liter V8 is also available. The pickup rides on a short and long arm front and solid live axle rear suspension. A front stabilizer bar, dual front airbags with passenger deactivation, front disc and rear drum brakes, and 4-wheel ABS provide the four-star safety features. Automatic headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and foglights are included. Options add mirrors with turn signals and OnStar.

The SLE1 is where luxury starts to make an appearance, with standard power features, remote entry, heated extendable mirrors, leather steering-wheel trim, cruise control, and a CD player with radio data. Intermittent wipers, a tachometer, a front power outlet, tilt and power steering, and a temperature display add extra convenience. An array of options include a power driver's seat with memory settings, satellite radio, wheel-mounted audio controls, a sliding rear window, and a trip computer.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD 5.8 ft. SB

The on-demand 4WD system in the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD comes with a center locking differential, with the option to add a rear locking differential. Optional skid plates, a heavy-duty suspension, and off-road tires, along with standard low-range gearing, improve off-road performance. This four-door, half-ton pickup features two rows of seats, but a small 5.8-foot cargo bed. Still, with the standard 285-hp, 4.8-liter V8 with 295 ft-lbs of torque, it can haul up to 8,700 pounds when equipped with the optional trailer hitch. Tow hooks are standard.

Riding on a short and long arm front and solid live axle rear suspension, the 2006 Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended 4WD uses 17-inch wheels with all-season tires, though alloy wheels and 20-inch wheels are available. Dual front airbags with passenger deactivation, front disc and rear drum brakes, 4-wheel ABS brakes, a front stabilizer bar, automatic headlights, and foglights earn three and four stars in crash tests. To beef up the safety profile, OnStar and mirrors with turn signals can be added.

Moving up to the SLE1 gets you full power features, including remote entry, heated mirrors, and cruise control. A CD player, leather trim, intermittent wipers, a front power outlet, tachometer, and a temperature display and compass are all standard. A chrome grille and bumpers flash up the exterior. Both bench rows split-fold, and front bucket seats are available. Rounding out the options package are a trip computer, wheel-mounted audio controls, a power driver's seat with memory, satellite radio, and a sliding rear window.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD 8 ft. LB

Maybe it's the 19 extra inches of length and longer 8-foot cargo bed in the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD LB that drive its use of a beefy 5.3-liter, 295-hp V8 and 4-speed automatic. Or maybe it's the on-demand 4WD system that's built to deliver off-road power effectively thanks to high- and low-range gearing options. This particular SLE1 trim in the half-ton pickup lineup gets 335 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. Accompanying the 4WD is a center locking differential and 17-inch wheels with all-season tires, but improved performance can be had with the optional 20-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, and a locking rear differential. Also available is a 285-hp, 4.8-liter V8.

The 2006 Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD LB also seats six passengers and features four doors (the rear ones are not full-size). The bench seats split-fold, and front bucket seats are optional. Full power features, remote entry, heated mirrors, a CD player, leather trim, and cruise control are all standard. Other conveniences include intermittent wipers, a front power outlet, tilt and power steering, a tachometer, and a compass and temperature readout. The cargo bed comes with two hooks and can be outfitted with a trailer hitch. Chrome decorates the bumpers and grille. Three- and four-star safety ratings come from the dual front airbags with passenger deactivation, 4-wheel ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, front stabilizer bar, automatic headlights, and foglights.

OnStar and mirrors with turn signals help with the safety profile. The comfort profile improves with the addition of wheel-mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, a power driver's seat with memory settings, leather upholstery, a trip computer, and satellite radio.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Crew Cab 5.8 ft. SB

The first thing you'll notice about the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Crew Cab is its four full-size doors and extra legroom for backseat passengers. Legroom increases from 33.7 inches in the Extended Cabs to 39 inches in the Crew. What suffers is the cargo bed, which comes only in the 5.8-foot length. The 6.5- and 8-foot beds are not available with the Crew Cab. This rear-wheel-drive pickup also gets the strong 5.3-liter V8 that produces 285-hp and 335 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic and can tow more than 10,000 pounds with the optional trailer hitch (tow hooks are standard). A 6.0-liter, 345-hp V8 is available.

Otherwise, the 2006 Sierra 1500 SLE1 Crew Cab resembles the Extended Cab trims in terms of features. Power windows, locks, and extendable heated mirrors, cruise control, a CD player with radio data, leather steering-wheel trim, remote entry, intermittent wipers, a front power outlet, a tachometer, tilt and power steering, and a compass and temperature display are all standard. Add-ons include a power driver's seat with memory settings, wheel-mounted audio controls, satellite radio, a trip computer, and leather seats.

In terms of safety, the pickup ranks average. Dual front airbags with passenger deactivation are standard, but no side curtain bags are available. Front disc and rear drum brakes are complemented by 4-wheel ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution. 17-inch wheels are standard, with the option to add 20-inch alloy ones. Automatic headlights and foglights help at night. Available options include a locking rear differential, skid plates, traction control, mirrors with turn signals, and OnStar.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 8 ft. LB

An extra 19 inches in length and 14 inches in wheelbase permit a longer 8-foot cargo bed on the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab LB. The rear-wheel-drive pickup seats six in two rows that split-fold, and the front bench can be replaced with bucket seats. The longer bed requires a 295-hp, 5.3-liter V8 that delivers 335 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM and can tow 8,000 pounds. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic. The other engine option is a 285-hp, 4.8-liter V8. Fuel economy sits in the mid-teens.

The pickup bed comes with tow hooks and the option to add a trailer hitch. The SLE1 comes standard with full power features, remote entry, cruise control, heated mirrors, leather trim, a CD player, front power outlet and cupholders, tilt and power steering, a security system, a temperature readout and compass, and intermittent wipers. Extended Cabs feature four doors, though the smaller rear doors do not open independently of the front doors. For those using the truck for comfort, along with utility, you can add a power driver's seat with memory settings, leather upholstery, a trip computer, wheel-mounted audio controls, and satellite radio.

On the safety front, the Sierra SLE1 Extended LB rates average, with standard 4-wheel ABS brakes and electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front airbags, 17-inch wheels with all-season tires (alloy available), and a front stabilizer bar. Side curtain bags are not offered, but traction control is, along with a locking rear differential, OnStar, mirrors with turn signals, and skid plates. Foglights, daytime running lights, and automatic headlights are all standard.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 5.8 ft. SB

This rear-wheel-drive pickup trim features two rows of seats, accessed via reverse-hinged quarter rear doors. It offers 15 more inches of wheelbase than the Regular Cab, but rear legroom in the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab measures only 33.7 inches. This particular trim comes with a 5.8-foot cargo bed, equipped with tow hooks. An optional trailer hitch lets you tow up to 8,000 pounds with the 4.8-liter, 285-hp V8. It is matched to a 4-speed automatic and gets 295 ft-lbs of torque. A 5.3-liter, 295-hp V8 in regular or flex fuel version is available.

The extra row of seats and seatback pockets are the major additions to the Extended Cab in the SLE1 trim. A full power setup includes extendable heated mirrors, cruise control, and remote entry. Premium cloth seats, leather trim on the steering wheel and shifter, a compass and temperature display, intermittent wipers, a front power outlet, a CD player with radio data, and a tachometer are all standard. More luxurious features are available, in the form of leather seats, satellite radio, power driver's seat with memory settings, a trip computer, and wheel-mounted audio controls.

Safety equipment includes front disc and rear drum brakes, 4-wheel ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front airbags, a front stabilizer bar, 17-inch wheels with all-season tires (20-inch alloy are optional). Foglights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights, and daytime running lights take care of nighttime driving. For rear-wheel-drive trims, traction control is available. Other options include skid plates, Onstar, mirrors with turn signals, and a locking rear differential.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD 6.5 ft. SB

The 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 4WD 6.5 SB is much like the 5.8 SB version in terms of standard equipment. The major difference is ten extra inches, which translates to a 6.5-foot bed. Inside, the two bench seats hold six passengers, though rear legroom is limited. Both benches split-fold. Though it has four doors, the rear doors are smaller and reverse-hinged. Fueling all this is a 4.8-liter, 285-hp V8 and 4-speed automatic transmission that get 15/19 mpg and can haul 10,000 pounds with the optional trailer hitch. Both a 5.3-liter V8 and a 6.0-liter V8 engine are available.

This trim features on-demand 4WD with both high- and low-range gearing for off-road utility. 8.4 inches of ground clearance, a locking center differential, and available off-road tires, 20-inch wheels, skid plates, and a locking rear differential improve performance. A front stabilizer bar, 4-wheel ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front airbags, 17-inch wheels with all-season tires, foglights, and automatic headlights complete the safety equipment. Available options are Onstar and mirrors with turn signals. Stability control and side curtain airbags are not offered.

Keeping things easy for the driver are power windows, locks, and extendable heated mirrors, as well as remote entry, cruise control, leather trim, a CD player, and intermittent wipers. A tachometer, compass, and temperature display reside on the dash. There is also a front power outlet. If you take this pickup out to play after working all day, it can be equipped with a power driver's seat, memory settings, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, wheel-mounted audio controls, and a trip computer. Privacy glass and a sliding rear window are other options.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab 6.5 ft. SB

With ten more inches in overall length and wheelbase, the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Extended Cab SB sports a 6.5-foot-long cargo bed. The half-ton pickup comes with four doors, though the rear ones open toward the back and in conjunction with the front doors. Two rows of split-folding bench seats fit six passengers, but front bucket seats can be substituted. Rear legroom is a tiny 33.7 inches. The rear-wheel-drive SLE1 sits on a short and long arm front and solid live axle rear suspension and rides on 17-inch steel wheels with all-season tires. Alloy wheels are optional, as are larger 20-inch wheels.

A 4.8-liter, 285-hp V8 and 4-speed automatic that get around 16/19 mpg can tow nearly 10,000 pounds. A more eco-friendly flex fuel 5.3-liter V8 is available, along with a powerful 345-hp 6.0-liter V8 and heavy duty suspension, for extra hauling capacity. Earning only three and four stars in frontal impact and rollover tests, the pickup comes standard with dual front airbags with passenger airbag sensors, 4-wheel ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, and a front stabilizer bar. Also on hand are automatic headlights, foglights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Adding more security are optional traction control, OnStar, skid plates, a locking rear differential, and mirrors with turn signals.

Driver comfort is taken care of by a full power setup, remote entry, cruise control, leather trim, and a CD player. A tachometer, front power outlet, intermittent wipers, tilt and power steering, and a compass and temperature display provide extra convenience. A long list of options add leather seats, a power driver's seat with memory settings, a trip computer, wheel-mounted audio controls, satellite radio, and a sliding rear window.

2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Crew Cab 4WD 5.8 ft. SB

Doubling as both a family and work truck, the four-door 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Crew Cab 4WD seats six comfortably in two full-size rows, with split-folding benches and 39 inches of rear legroom. The 5.8-foot cargo bed comes with tow hooks, and an optional trailer hitch can tow up to 9,900 pounds with the 5.3-liter, 295-hp V8 and 4-speed automatic. This trim's low towing capacity is due to its on-demand four-wheel-drive system, which comes with a locking center differential and high- and low-range gearing. This means you can take the half-ton pickup off-road; optional skid plates, larger 20-inch wheels in place of the standard 17-inch, and a locking rear differential increase off-road confidence.

The pickup earns only three and four stars in crash tests, perhaps due to its lack of side impact and curtain airbags. A front stabilizer bar, 4-wheel ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, and dual front airbags are all standard. The truck sits on a short and long arm front and solid live axle rear suspension. Automatic headlights, foglights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are all standard. Paying extra gets you Onstar and mirrors with turn signals.

Full power features include remote entry, cruise control, a security system, and heated extendable mirrors. Leather trim on the steering wheel dresses up the interior, and leather seats can be added. A CD player comes with radio data. Wheel-mounted audio controls and satellite radio are optional. Other standard equipment includes tilt and power steering, a tachometer, a front power outlet, intermittent wipers, and a temperature display and compass. A power driver's seat with memory settings, automatic climate control, a trip computer, and sliding rear window can all be added.
