CarGurus Overview
Silverados with the dual-rear-wheel setup will perform better when equipped with one of the two more powerful engines. Choosing the 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which provides 360 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. An 8.1 liter V8 is also available, offering 330 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both of the optional power plants can be hooked up to either a six-speed manual or a heavy-duty Allison six-speed automatic. Properly equipped, a dual-wheel 3500 will haul an impressive 12,000-pounds.
The Work Truck is the base-level trim in the Silverado lineup, and features here include just the basics like steel wheels, a vinyl-upholstered split-folding bench seat, dual-zone manual air conditioning and an AM/FM radio. Chevy's 4x4 system may also be equipped with an optional off-road package, including a heavier-duty suspension and skid plates.
Unlike the Silverado 1500 and 2500, the 3500 crew cabs are all fitted with the longest bed option, measuring 97.6 inches. The 3500 is a one-ton truck, able to carry payloads of 4213 pounds with two rear wheels or 5511 pounds with dual rear wheels. The 3500 offers some additional hauling flexibility, verses the lighter-duty 1500 crew cabs, which are only available with the 67.9-inch bed.
This overview covers the Work Truck 4dr Crew Cab LB DRW trim only.
