The Work Truck is the base-level trim in the Silverado lineup, and features here include just the basics like steel wheels, a vinyl-upholstered split-folding bench seat, dual-zone manual air conditioning and an AM/FM radio.

While the Silverado 1500 and 2500 regular cabs are available with either of the two longer bed lengths, every 3500 comes with the longest option, measuring 97.6 inches. Chevy's 4x4 system may also be equipped with an optional off-road package, including a heavier-duty suspension and skid plates.

Silverados with the dual-rear-wheel setup will perform better when equipped with one of the two more powerful engines. Choosing the 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which provides 360 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. An 8.1 liter V8 is also available, offering 330 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both of the optional power plants can be hooked up to either a six-speed manual or a heavy-duty Allison six-speed automatic. Properly equipped, a dual-wheel 3500 will haul an impressive 12,000-pounds.
