Silverado's second tier LS trim is equipped with cruise control, a CD player and deluxe cloth upholstery. While the lighter duty Silverado 1500 and 2500 extended cab models offer buyers a choice between all three bed lengths, the 3500s are long bed-only, regardless of trim, cab size, engine or drive train and wheel configurations. This bed measures 97.6 inches, and aids the one-ton truck's impressive 5000-pound payload.

Buyers who select the dual-rear-wheel setup are also advised to opt for one of the two more powerful engines. Choosing the 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which provides 360 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. An 8.1 liter V8 is also available, offering 330 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both of the optional power plants can be hooked up to either a six-speed manual or a heavy-duty Allison six-speed automatic. Properly equipped, a dual-wheel 3500 will haul an impressive 12,000-pounds.
