Silverado's second tier LS trim is differentiated from the base level Work Truck by the addition of cruise control, a CD player and deluxe cloth upholstery. The LS is also equipped with dual-zone climate control.

Buyers who select the dual-rear-wheel setup are also advised to opt for one of the two more powerful engines. Choosing the 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which provides 360 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. An 8.1 liter V8 is also available, offering 330 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both of the optional power plants can be hooked up to either a six-speed manual or a heavy-duty Allison six-speed automatic. Properly equipped, a dual-wheel 3500 will haul an impressive 12,000-pounds.

Set apart from the Silverado 1500 and 2500, the 3500 crew cabs are all fitted with the longest bed option, measuring 97.6 inches. The 3500 is a one-ton truck, able to carry payloads of 4213 pounds with two rear wheels or 5511 pounds with dual rear wheels. Thus, the 3500 offers some additional hauling flexibility, verses the 1500 crew cabs, which are only available with the 67.9-inch bed.
