ProsVery reliable but no more so than a Honda. ConsBelly-button car. Makes crappy drivers think they are good enough for F1.

Excellent Appliance. — Some electrcal issues. Run flat tires are terrible. Push button start with key fob in the dash is stupid. Transmission (Steptronic) is hokey. Service plan is cool but it isn't really free like BMW claims. They just build the "free maintenance" into the price of the car.

ProsSilky smooth acceleration, solid construction, amazing stereo, no rattles or squeaks. ConsSame belt tensioner problem since 2001, but at least it only makes noise in the winter.

This Is What I've Been Missing All My Life! — BMW couldn't have come up with a better slogan, "The ultimate driving machine." This vehicle was truly made to be driven, especially driven hard. For once, a "tiptronic" automatic transmission that actually changes its shifting characteristics to a more noticeable degree. Precise steering response and tight suspension make this 4 passenger luxury coupe feel more like a 2 seater sports car. If you're looking for a practical car thats reasonable on gas mileage and has a sports car feel, BMW has it!

ProsBuilt quality, economy, torque, reliability, bluetooth phone interface ConsDiesel clatter at idle quite noticeable. Ride a bit harsh with run-flat tires.

1000km Per Tank — If you can put up with a bit of diesel clatter (especially for a luxury car), it is worthwhile getting this diesel. The torque when overtaking, or going up hills even when fully loaded is amazing, better then many petrol 6 cylinders. My best run measured 5L/100km fuel consumption, which would give me 1350km per tank if I could sustain that for the entire journey. However the engine being such a hard worker makes you want to step on it and feel the surge, so for a country drive, with some hills and overtaking, expect around 5.5-6.
