Pros

Fantastic front seats (perfectly contoured, heated, 6-way power), lots of power (300 HP - who'd suspect a station wagon to blow past you?), good road grip (AWD), great stealth looks in the Titanium Grey Pearl, excellent quality in fit and finish as you would expect from Volvo.

Cons

Dealer repairs expensive, dealer deceptive, big turning radius while parking due to AWD, fair mpg - max 26 mpg highway, 19 mpg city

V70r - Sports Car Disguised As A Station Wagon — The 2005 Volvo V70R is ideal for long hauls across the country and runs up into the mountains for skiing. With the Geartronic automatic transmission, city traffic is not a problem except for the large turning radius aligning into tight parking spaces. The 300 HP engine provides stunning acceleration for a station wagon and it's fun to fly by unsuspecting Porsches. With the standard AWD, superb handling and grip made you feel confident that you were safe in drastic conditions. The front seats set a standard that few others in the industry can match. The 60-40 rear seats fold down to give lots of cargo capacity. Standard features include 17" alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, roof spoiler, leather seats - heated in front, leather steering wheel with blue stitching, special blue gauges, auto-dimming rear view mirror, rain sensing wiper system, Homelink, Xenon headlights, fog lights, and much more. Other possibilities include a 6-speed manual transmission, dashboard navigation system, sunroof, 18" wheels, roof rails and more.

Solid Workhorse. — Reliability and an ability to provide a longer life than most vehicles. These cars definitly need a 6 digit odometer. 100K miles is low milage on a Volvo. Great high speed miles per gallon. It has very comfortable seats with great lumbar support.

Pros

The V70 D5 has good 'grunt' with a good 'roar' when booted ..... and still returns 50mpg on a M'way run

Cons

Finding parking spaces to fit in, in UK .... but at least the folding mirrors help

A Real Sports Hold-all — Having penned and led the AT05 programme, it was natural that when i was looking to replace the 806, that i should chose the V70 as my wife still hankered after her Taiwan S60, and i needed a long legged cruiser for reliable journeys back'n'forth to Coventry University. The D5 has good 'grunt' with a good 'roar' when booted ..... and still returns 50mpg on a M'way run .... its a 'keeper' .... 105k miles and just reached maturity. Plus i love the colour, on the 2005 i chose, which made it to production.

Blew An Engine Up Before It Had 500 Miles On Clock — Good safe car but the handling is a bit pants, back end tends to step out when cornering hard. Engine blew with under 500 miles on clock but it was being driven hard, whilst I was at work. Beleived to be a manufacturers fault as the S60 I use didn't blow up lol

Lovely, But Very Expensive To Run, Reliability Not Perfect, And Dealers Dreadful — Performance - blistering Build quality - not perfect, quite a few reliability issues from new Appearance - looks the part Costs, prohibitive, 23mpg, servicing incredibly expensive at main dealers, and they treat you as if it's their car! Fun, very much so. Very practical too

Overall Great With A Few Minor Bugs — Overall great comfortable solid veh.Only drawback of the v70 2.5T AWD is the HP TIRES AND RIMS they look great and would be great on the Autobaun but on North American roads they are crap. If they had Regular tires they would be great.Hope someone has a reply with a solution James
