Pros

Super sharp car and rides so very smooth. Great sound from the Dolby sound system and incredibly comfortable seats.

Cons

It's not made by Audi

Curb Appeal, And Yet Sensible — This car has the flash that you want in sports car but the seating capacity for a small family. It's a great ride with a very comfortable interior. You get to turn heads all the while snapping them as you pass by them. This car was great this winter and I expect it would be great for anybody anywhere.

Pros

joy

Cons

fuel consumption

Love It — The car is really fun to drive; I truly enjoy its cool acceleration, stability and reliable brakes. Both internal and external design fits to my taste, the only thing I miss is cooling of the leather seats. However, fuel consumption is a bit higher than I would prefer as car owner, but this is more or less natural for a 2.0 liter turbo engine using gas.

Pros

Cons

Its not the best background image with a Volvo badge....but i couldnt care less!

Swedish Design...with Plenty Of Torque. — Only had this car a few months, and I cant pick a fault with it. Got the 2.4 D5 version, old 163bhp as apposed to the newer 185bhp. Performance wise, im astonished by the amount of power this car puts out, the amount of times i find myself sat on the motorway doing 80mph, tickle the accelerator and its up to 100mph. The newer version of the S60 utilises those extra BHPs to give this car even more power! I cant really see the need, however for that older generation of Volvo drivers towing caravans it makes sense. Once again this car is no Ferrari, but for a 2.4 diesel it certainly does put some speed out when you want to. One slight criticism could be the 1st gear ratio, but thats just preference. Oh and i still cant bring myself to turn the DSTC (Traction Control) off, need and airfield for that wild ride. The interior of the S60 makes you feel cacooned, wrapped in the cockpit of the most luxurious fighter jet on the planet. The seats are unbelievably comfortable, and ive been very tempted to buy a set of ebay to turn into kitchen chairs! Ive done 4 hour straight journeys in this car and felt like ive just gone to the shops round the corner. The Dolby Pro Logic 2 Surround sound system is also superb and infact that good i havent bothered upgrading any part of it, which i was planning to do after the poor quality S40 stereo and speakers. And the centre speaker on the front dash is a very nice touch. Its certainly a long distance cruiser, built for comfort and ease of use. But for a diesel with a bit of power, more comfort than a 5 series, more reliable than a merc, and cheaper with most of the mod cons as standard it was the only decision for me.

Anonymous bought one because:

I chose the 2005 S60 T5 for a number of reasons: 1. safety features and crash test ratings 2. Dependability 3. Number (and severity) of manufacturer recalls and information available in the technical service bulletin 4. Consumer reviews and complaints. 5. Side-by-side comparisons to other vehicles in it's class 6. Fuel economy/affordability/cost of ownership 7. Styling

None really.

Good Solid Car. — Performance is a bit anemic, as it is the 2.0T, although when the turbo kicks in, it pulls nicely. I wish it was the 2.5T or the T5! Styling is very good, and so is build quality. Wish I could find the wicked S60R.

Pros

quick, luxury, styling

Cons

throttle response

Vulva....volvo — Overall, the Volvo S60 is a wonderful vehicle. There are only a few minor flaws in the car that I have noticed thus far; one being the lag in throttle response with an automatic transmission, but this is common in most cars. As far as performance goes, it is much more than I had expected and hoped for. With around 210 horsepower from the stock 2.5 litre turbocharged engine, I have been able to keep up with a friend's 2003 Audi TT Quattro which pushes 280 hp after some custom work. As always, Volvo has produced a very well built car. Everything from the smooth and quiet ride to the heated seats and mirrors seems to have been exceptionally well designed. As for the cost of ownership, like other European luxury cars, the Volvo S60 very few maintenance requirements other than the regular oil change and tire rotations. However, when something goes on the vehicle, be prepared to spend at least $1,000.00 each time as the parts are not cheap. Like any other car, gas mileage depends a great deal on how you drive the car. When I have my foot into the throttle I can expect to get between 6 and 12 mpg. When taking a long highway drive and obeying speed limits, that number quickly exceeds 28 mpg. The Volvo S60 is not only a fun car to drive, but it is also very safe, allowing the driver to get away with maneuvers that might leave other cars with its wheels spinning at the clouds.

Sexiest Of The Swedes. — Very good acceleration; nice sturdy leather interior is worth it. Extremely comfortable ergonomic front seating. Great stability control with winter tires on ice. Back seat is cramped, even for kids. Few repairs needed in 4 years - just one bumper replaced after a hit and run (some big SUV backed into it by the looks of it - couldn't afford the hit to his insurance and ran). Good highway mileage, low maintenance. Fun to drive and safe. Lots of trunk!

I Would Buy Another Volvo — Very under-rated car that scored very highly in the yearly JD Power surveys. Ive not had a day's trouble. Smooth auto box. Economical when driving sensibly and can get on with when reqiured. In fact, showed a true 138km/h top speed on my GPS. It has a very spacious boot, good sound system, very comfy seats with electric adjustment and memory and very safe handling. None of the torque steer issues of earlier Volvos. A bit cramped in rear.
