Pros

utility, comfort, handling, solid build, safety, AWD

Cons

gas mileage

4motion Awd + Utility + Handling = Supercar! — One of the best cars ever made. More cargo room (64 cu. ft.) than many SUVs, German Sport sedan handling, independent suspension for a nice ride and great control, and 4 Motion AWD to get through 55" of snow in one week with no problems whatsoever! Gas mileage is much lower than my 2001 V6 FWD sedan (stick), abotu 30% lower! The wagon, 4Motion and Tiptronic (automatic) transmission add about 500 pounds! ABotu 20-22mpg around town (suburbs), 24-26 on the highway if you take it easy. At 75-85mph cruise, only 23mpg.

Pros

The CLIMBAtronic system always keeps the car at the required temperature

Cons

Nothing.

Vw Passat, The Best Semi-auto I've Driven! — This TDi sport model has good performance for a semi-auto. It has good handling & 130BHp from a 1.9L diesel engine. Apart from the regular consumables, it never needs repairs. It's appearance shows that this is a solid german car that can be trusted. This model does not have the advanced designs of modern VW's, but you can still get a fair few miles to the gallon. This car is meant to be more of a luxery car than a fun car, but there is still potential to go up against cars designed to be more fun.

Handles just like a man....hahahaha. ....warm ....smooth....and fast. =) It always starts in winter, and is excellent on gas consumption 26 miles to the gallon for Highway. Amazing!!

Pros

fast, nice, longevity

Cons

little bit more power.  Wish 4matic was standard on passat

Very Nice Car At The Right Price — Its fast and drives and handles nicely. it corners with precision on winding roads. The styling of this car is very nice. Although the inside is more classy the outside is sporty and sophisticated. This is a really fun car.

2005 Vw Passat Tdi Gls - Yes - It's A Diesel!!! — It's a Diesel!! What more can I say about 40 mpg every week! With the Turbo Lag I can pass people easily without losing too much fuel efficiency. Cost of ownership is great - minimal repairs, just regular maintenance. Very fun to drive especially with the Triptronic shifter I can pretend I have a Manual transmission and shift back to Automatic whenever I want!

Pros

Acceleration, Gas Mileage, Value

Cons

None.

Great Car, Great Mpg, Great Everything. — The Passat has great build quality, it's solid on the road at any speed, and the acceleration is great thanks to the spirited 1.8 litre 4 Cylinder Turbo, with a few tweaks. Even with my heavy right foot, the Passat is getting an average of 22 mpg in the city, and 30 on the highway. It's rather remarkable! I love my Passat.

Pros

Great performance, fun to drive, nice looking

Cons

Minor electrical issues

35

'05 Vw Passat — This car performs very well. Acceleration and braking are superb. Handling in corners is great. It has needed minor electrical repairs (light over visor was stuck on, trunk release problem, and static in one speaker). It is a fun car to drive, but not as fun as the Beetle. Gas mileage is around 22 city and 31 highway.

Pros

Strong, beautiful, sturdy, powerful, easy to maneuver

Cons

Maintenance is a little more than for an American car.

German Quality And Great Options — This car is great on gas, it's a mid-size sedan that offers a lot of space! The acceleration is pretty impressive and it handles very well. A very good looking car, fun to drive with good visibility. Repair costs are on the higher hand but these cars require really few repairs, they're really well built and the gas mileage is really good. Overall, this car can pack up the miles better than most other cars of its category!

Brakes have never been great, even with fresh pads the car takes more effort to stop than other cars.

My 2nd Passat — I Loved my '96 Passat wagon, even drove it from Ohio to Alaska and back. So I upgraded to a used 2005 wagon. Everything works as it should. All features, systems seem to be operating just as VW designed. My kids think wagons are out of date, but in Europe this model and Audi equivalents are very popular. I like being able to put a lawnmower in back, golf clubs are easy, and road trips even for just 2 of us there is abundant space. Gas mileage is 23 around town, 28 on trips. At speeds of 50-55 it gets closer to 30. VW specifies super premium but I use mid-grade with no apparent problems.

Love My Passat Gls! — Loved how much space I had! Parking is very easy also! The heated seats warm up fast (good for the arctic Minnesota winters!). I am always the one driving because everyone loves how much space and how comfortable the Passat is! I had no blind spots and it handles extremely well. Love zipping around in this car!
