Pros

utility, comfort, handling, solid build, safety, AWD

Cons

gas mileage

65

4motion Awd + Utility + Handling = Supercar! — One of the best cars ever made. More cargo room (64 cu. ft.) than many SUVs, German Sport sedan handling, independent suspension for a nice ride and great control, and 4 Motion AWD to get through 55" of snow in one week with no problems whatsoever! Gas mileage is much lower than my 2001 V6 FWD sedan (stick), abotu 30% lower! The wagon, 4Motion and Tiptronic (automatic) transmission add about 500 pounds! ABotu 20-22mpg around town (suburbs), 24-26 on the highway if you take it easy. At 75-85mph cruise, only 23mpg.

Cons

Vw Passat, The Best Semi-auto I've Driven! — This TDi sport model has good performance for a semi-auto. It has good handling & 130BHp from a 1.9L diesel engine. Apart from the regular consumables, it never needs repairs. It's appearance shows that this is a solid german car that can be trusted. This model does not have the advanced designs of modern VW's, but you can still get a fair few miles to the gallon. This car is meant to be more of a luxery car than a fun car, but there is still potential to go up against cars designed to be more fun.

Great Car, Great Mpg, Great Everything. — The Passat has great build quality, it's solid on the road at any speed, and the acceleration is great thanks to the spirited 1.8 litre 4 Cylinder Turbo, with a few tweaks. Even with my heavy right foot, the Passat is getting an average of 22 mpg in the city, and 30 on the highway. It's rather remarkable! I love my Passat.

Pros

Great performance, fun to drive, nice looking

Cons

Minor electrical issues

'05 Vw Passat — This car performs very well. Acceleration and braking are superb. Handling in corners is great. It has needed minor electrical repairs (light over visor was stuck on, trunk release problem, and static in one speaker). It is a fun car to drive, but not as fun as the Beetle. Gas mileage is around 22 city and 31 highway.

My 4motion — So far real nice overall, I've put over 40k worry free. A headlight and taillight was all that needed replacing, tires also. At 80k, I now pray for 40-80k more! Always maintain scheduled maint. is key! I read a lot of horror stories. and I just wonder if people are changing oil and doing the correct maint. or not that will kill any car. GO VW!

Very Nice Car At The Right Price — Its fast and drives and handles nicely. it corners with precision on winding roads. The styling of this car is very nice. Although the inside is more classy the outside is sporty and sophisticated. This is a really fun car.

2005 Vw Passat Tdi Gls - Yes - It's A Diesel!!! — It's a Diesel!! What more can I say about 40 mpg every week! With the Turbo Lag I can pass people easily without losing too much fuel efficiency. Cost of ownership is great - minimal repairs, just regular maintenance. Very fun to drive especially with the Triptronic shifter I can pretend I have a Manual transmission and shift back to Automatic whenever I want!
