2005 Toyota Tacoma 4 Dr X-Runner V6 Extended Cab SB Review
ProsPerformance, speed, acceleration, style, Front seats were not real firm but wrapped around you. Consrear seats. Onlt 900lb cargo capacity including passengers. Bilstein shocks sometimes too stiff. $300/ piece tires. Lacked traction in snow and ice.

Perfect 3 Season Sport Truck. — I LOVED my X-Runner. It was very fast and accelerated great. Loved the 4.0L V6 and 6 spd manual. The styling was very noticable and I got looks everwhere I went. Even entered it into NOPI the first year it waws out and got alot of compliments. This truck would handle like a sports car gripping the road around corners. Used it for solo II racing and it performed great! Had to get rid of it because a car seat does not fit in the back seats well and didn't like slidding around in the snow with my son so i traded for a 4x4 tundra instead. I truely miss this truck and 1 day will own another again. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsFun to corner in. ConsNot good on mileage

Own If You Like To Drive A Performance Vehicle! — Front disc brakes rear drums are ok. Great handling in the corners puts you in the seat ok. Gas mileage sucks but who cares wehn ya have fun. Hellava great ride to drive. Inside is nice and roomy rear seats are a little cramped if you keep em in. Exterior is different not really seen anywhere but on the X Runner. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsGreat powertrain, awesome stance, good looks. ConsNone really

Buy One — Strong engine with a responsive transmission, love the LSD. Looks great. Comes with a very good warranty. The paint job isn't that great, but they've fixed that on newer models. Gets decent fuel mileage, runs better on premium, but fine on regular. Rear suspension squeaks if not maintained properly. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsGreat 4X4 capabilities with lots of after market upgrades available. ConsThis is a great vehicle.

Not The Best On Gas Mileage, But It Is A Strong Vehicle And Won't Let You Down. — Only had a few minor issues with this vehicle which include: 1) passenger side sun visor fell out. Was easily replaced by Toyota. 2) plastic caps on the rims would fall off during normal driving. That is it for problems. Everything else has worked great and I've owned this vehicle nearly 5 years! Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Proslooks, size, interior roominess, performance Conssit low to the ground, bouncy ride

Hot Truck — I bought this truck in 2005 with 15,000 miles on it. I think it has almost every option. It is a great looker, everyone comments on it's appearance. It is a good compromise in size-not too big or small. Preformance is very good and MPG is not bad. Ride is bouncy and you sit too low to the ground but I am over 6ft and I have plenty of leg room. I would definetly recommend this truck to a friend.

ProsOnly had it for 10k miles, but it was a great, trouble-free truck. ConsNone.

Part Deux — This was another great Toyota pickup. Bigger than the 2000 & 2001 version I had, this model came with a 5-speed automatic transmission (claimed to get better gas mileage than with the 6-speed manual) and 4.0L engine. Got a little over 18mpg over the life of the vehicle. This replaced my Integra, but that wasn't the best move for me. I realized I like driving cars more than I like driving trucks (as a daily driver) so I sold the truck and bought an Integra again. This time it was a 1993, but I soon realized that I was also a big fan of the seatbelt/airbag combination, so sold that one for a 2000 Integra GSR. Ideally, I would have a car as a daily driver and the truck as a "backup". That's what I have now - it's perfect.

ProsI had my tacoma for six years, bought it certified with 27,000 miles on it and took it to 195,000 before someone cut in front of me on the interstate, totaled the truck. At 195,000 it ran like the first day I bought it and did not have one hose/ seal leak in the engine. CV boots looked brand new at 7 years old. Best truck I have ever owned. Do not hesitate to buy one with 100,000+ miles on it because it will last! I am a carpenter and constantly had mine under load, it actually rides better with a shell/ weight in the back! ConsMy only complaint was the brake rotors. We live in the foothills of Colorado and I did a lot of driving into Denver, the rotors seemed to warp about every 15,000 miles. I replaced them with drilled rotors and never had a problem after.

Loved It — It is unbelievably reliable and well built. I took it from Colorado to Maryland with 187,000 on it and it didn't even sneeze. These are great trucks, even if it is a little more than you want to spend, it is worth it. They hold their value incredibly well and for a reason. I would only ask that the brake rotors were a little more beefy, thats it. This truck will never leave you questioning your purchase. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsClean, nice driving, vehicle shows very little wear, the bed liner is basically unused. Accessible storage in the extended cab with the rear doors opening. ConsNot a good vehicle to put anyone in the back seats,

Solid Vehicle, Toyota Has The Reputation For Longevity! — Great commuter truck providing good fuel economy with plenty of power to handle those weekend projects and hauling midsized loads. Anyone looking for a midsized truck will enjoy driving this vehicle. This truck has been pampered and has many miles left in it. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsSwseet looking, totally reliable, great engine note Conscostly to purchase, it's not sure if it's a sports car or truck?

Great Looker, Gets Lots Of Questions, I'm Proud To Onw It. — This is an amazing truck by Toyota! First test drive I knew I had to have it. I had driven a 5 cylinder Colorado extreme but it could not compare to the X-Runner. The power this truck have is impressive and for a truck it’s weight is not so bad either. It sports a ractive exhaust dual in, dual put system and it sounds totally radical cruising. My sound system is fully aftermarket and was easy to install. 6 speed manual tranny with cruise control makes it easy and efficient on the long haul. Loving my Yota! Would Rather Have This Than A Normal Tacoma. This Is A Great Truck To Drive — 0-60 in under 7 seconds. not too fast but good for a truck. I made the hood scoop open, it IS a 6speed. Very good, it can slide when i want it to. Super fun to drive!! you dont see a lot of them on the road. |
