Pros

You don't "Handle" this car, It Takes You For A Ride..The Interior Is OMG wonderful, and you can see the Exterior is all Class...I like the body on this car more so over the new body style .

Cons

There are no cons to driving a 12 cylinder car...if you complain about the gas prices, why buy a 12 cylinder in the first place....Love My Car!

Does Your Car Turn You On? — I know that the tv commerical that asks the questions.."When you turn your car on, does it turn you on?" This Car will Turn You On! The exterior is beautiful, I like this model much more than the new body. THE INTERIOR has a suede ceiling, soft leather a/c and heat seats, and the driver seats give you a massage..no kidding.

Understated Elegance With An Attitude. Destined To Be A Classic. Great Used Value. — After owning three Corvettes and a couple of Mercedes roadsters, I am no stranger to performance. When I bought this 2005 CL55 AMG, I expected much more luxury with less muscle. (The verdict) This car has all the comfort of a flagship $130,000 Mercedes, no disappointment there. However, this 493HP supercharged screamer quickly puts all the bad boys in your backwash. Active Body Control, sport suspension mode, paddle shifters etc, gets it anywhere you want to be as quick, or quicker, than you want to get there. I was ready to accept the fact that it is OK for men my age to slow down, get comfy and cruise in style, which is easy to do in this car. However, in 4.6 seconds I can go from zero to sixty mph AND my internal clock goes from 60 to 21! Fun to drive? Duh? If not for a 155 MPH electro-limit, one might expect top speeds to get dangerously close to the 200 speedo peg mark. That's just stupid, but way cool, huh? In 2 years or ownership fuel economy is consistently over 18 mpg and expenses have been limited to routine service. 'nuff said!

Pros

This is one of the best driving vehicles I have ever owned. It beats my Ferrari 360 hands down. The CL65 smokes my Bentley in all areas except room. The power is incredible. I was told by a few people not to get the 12 cylinder. ANyone who says don't get one probably has never owned one. I have over 85K miles on my car and it still drives like new. With a few exceptions I will note below in the cons. The brakes are top notch. The ride comfort is so smooth it makes my Cadi feel like a Sherman tank. Not that the Cadi is bad. It is just he CL65 is just that smooth. My goal is to drive it until I hit 250K then I will go from there. My CL55 has 188K on it and still drives great.

Performance is excellent. I had the chip mod done to it and it has power for days. 0-60 in 3.8 secs. 1/4 mile in 11.48 at 129 MPH.

Cornering is great as well.

Cons

The biggest fear everyone has with this car or the CL series for that matter is the ABC Active Body Control. i have had one ABC issue so far and it was about $2,600 to fix. The average yearly cost to maintain after the warranty expired has been about 2,000 per year to maintain. Not bad for a super car. I had a Mondial Ferrari that ran $7,500 a year to keep on the road. Thje Engine has always run flawlessly. I had one error at 80K miles and was told to replace all spark plugs. So I did that and it was back to perfection. I have changed the transmission oil every 40K since I did that with my Cl55 and it is still running strong. I have had every scheduled factory maintenance performed and it seems to have been serving me well. So the cost is slightly higher then most. But for the bang for the buck. I do not think there is a better deal out there on the used market.

Top Notch Performance And Smooth Daily Driver — The interior panels are a little on the cheap side. The door panel with the controls came loose twice. The center console has come loose once as well. Other then those two interior issues the rest of the car is in like new condition. I always garage it. But I drive it hard every now then. It's amazing that I can kill on the race track then drive to work in it the next day. I have had many cars but this is on my top of the list for performance and comfort. Update Review 9-2014 The CL65 still drives beautifully. The one thing I really notice is the deep rich sound of the engine really attracts attention. It is a wolf in sheep's clothing. You have this incredible race car hidden by a little non aggressive Mercedes body. I love it when some kid is in the lane next to me and is revving his engine with his new Mustang only to be left in the dust and become a a spot in my review mirror. I have three other Mercedes and I love the ergonomics on this one.when I reach for the seat belt it us exactly where my hand reaches unlike my other two that are kind of awkward. The navigation is not that intuitive like my others though. But since it is a little older I can cut them some slack. It consumes a little oil. about 1 qt every few months. But I drive it hard. The dealership said it is a non issue. I had a scare last month. I came out after not driving the car for a while. I was on vacation. The left side was drooping down. Oh crap. I can see the repair bill now. The dreaded ABC. I got int he car, started it up, still nothing, put it in reverse and it went right back to normal. No problems ever since. I guess it may have been lonely. One option I love is the seat cool down feature. It gets hot hair and one flick of the switch and my seats get nice and cool. They also heat up, but I never use that. I like the cold. My wife is the heater freak. Backseat issue. I treat this as a two seater since the back seats are kind of useless for grown men. However, I got two pretty big guys in the back when I unexpectedly had to take them across town. Trunk space is great. Lots of room. The automatic lift function has been giving me some trouble lately. It goes up but very slowly and when it goes down. It goes fast. Look out and get out of the way once you press the close button. A few times my key-less ignition would not start on the first push. I had to push it a few times to get it going. I had to buy new tires. I was burning rubber a little too much and those tires were bald. I was sliding all over the place in the rain. Put some new all weather tires on and it drives like a dream again in the rain. But it was scary as heck sliding around so much just because of some bald tires. I guess tread does serve a purpose.

V12 Bi-turbo — This was the first 12 cylinder car to ever call our garage home. Performance wise to was an all out powerhouse. With 604 horsepower and 738 ft-lbs this AMG was an absolute sleeper. To the average person it looked like any other mercedes which is kind of a pain considering its near 200k price tag.
