The hatchback version of its entry-level sedan, the 2005 Hyundai Accent GLS Hatchback offers up to 16 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down and comes with an a rear wiper to go with the already standard intermittent front one from the sedan. A 1.6-liter, 104-hp I4 sits under the hood, coupled with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The front-wheel drive hatch rides on small 13-inch wheels and earns 4-star front and side crash ratings thanks to dual front-side airbags. New for the 2005 Accent GLS Hatchback are ABS brakes.
Other than the extra cargo room and rear window wiper, the hatchback is the same as sedan in terms of standard features -- which means, there are none. Power steering, a tachometer, defroster, tape player, and a front console are all you get. But the price is right and the 29/33 fuel economy means less visits to the gas station. Options include air conditioning, power features, and a CD player. A good starter car or first-time car, say owners, due to its affordability and fuel savings. Negatives include limited rear legroom, low ground clearance, and lack of standard features. Acceleration is noisy, as it is with most compacts.

The four-door 2005 Hyundai Accent GLS gets optional ABS brakes this year, but otherwise is little changed. The front-wheel drive sedan is powered by a 1.6-liter, 104-hp I4 and 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed auto tran is optional. As an entry-level compact, the 2005 Accent GLS is pretty bare-bones, to keep the price down, but it does come standard with dual front-side airbags.
The trunk holds 11 cubic feet, but rear seats fold down for extra space, and the front seat has a fold-down center armrest/storage console. Standard equipment includes intermittent wipers, a tape player, tachometer, and power steering. The new ABS option comes in a bundled package with power windows, locks, and mirrors, and air conditioning. A CD player is also available. Drivers like their 2005 Accent GLS for its reliability, price, and fuel economy (since there's not much to it but that). Downsides include the low ground clearance, which makes for bumpy rides, and exterior noise.

Don't be fooled by the GT nameplate. A sports car, the 2005 Hyundai Accent GT Hatchback is definitely not. But the front-wheel drive wagon tries anyway. It features a sports-tuned suspension, larger 14-inch alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and shifter trim, foglights, and a rear spoiler to dress up its entry-level compact image. The hatch seats four, though rear room is cramped. Seats do fold down for extra cargo space, holding up to 16.9 cubic feet.
One engine is available (not a GT), a 104-hp, 1.6-liter I4 with a 5-speed manual transmission or optional 4-speed automatic. In addition to the sporty features, the 2005 Accent GT Hatchback comes with a tape player, a tachometer, power steering, and front and rear wipers. Air and power accessories are extra as is a CD player. Dual front-side airbags are included, and 4-wheel ABS brakes are a new option this year. Dependability and affordabilty are the highlights of the 2005 Accent GT Hatchback. Good 29/33 mpg, a low sticker price, and 4-star crash ratings stand out for drivers. The small backseat, a sluggish auto tran, and road/wind noise are common complaints.
