CarGurus Overview
As the high-end trim of the eight-passenger minivan, the 2005 GMC Safari SLT Passenger Van offers a lot more standard features than the other trims in the lineup. The rear-wheel drive, truck-based van has three rows of seats, with the second and third row both foldable and removable to expand the 41 cubic foot cargo area to 170 cubic feet. Engine power is the same 4.3-liter, 190-hp V6 and 4-speed automatic with tow/haul mode, and the van rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. Dual front airbags, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, and 4-wheel ABS brakes are standard.
Beefing up what you get on the SLE, the 2005 Safari SLT features keyless entry, leather trim, a power driver's seat, a trip computer, overhead console, and both rear climate and audio control for the CD player. Full power features, intermittent wipers, a security system, and cruise control are also standard. A roof rack is also included with the SLT, and a trailer hitch can be added to tow up to 5400 pounds. Options add on leather seats, running boards, and a reclining rear seat. While drivers and passengers appreciate the room, a truck-like ride and low 16/21 mpg are downsides.
This overview covers the 3 Dr SLT Passenger Van Extended trim only.
