2005 GMC Canyon SLE Z71 Crew Cab 2WD Review
ProsDURABILITY ConsNot fast with the 3.5 inline

It Has Been Faithfull!!! — Preformance- Not the fastest, but does great on towing. Wanders a little on the road with the slightest breeze, brakes true and fast, cruises like a dream. Build Quality- Built on a good day with typical repairs like any other truck I have owned. Intake manifold cracked at 140,000 miles, just replaced the alternator and idler pully. Rattle at the front driver side at highway speed, I think it is the fender. Appearence- good paint has held up well. Intrior has lots of plastic and has also held up well. Cost- Milage overall is around 20 MPG and regular 3000 mile oil changes. It ate up the 1st and 2nd sets of general tires in 30,000 miles each. Went to coopers to average 60,000 miles. Fun- ? Small easy to fit where my other trucks failed. Good looking? Primary Use: Commuting to work

Very Weak — Many issues with this vehicle - phantom shifts into 4WD, gas mileage is nowhere near the standard, even driving with cruise control 99% of the time, and interior rattles that the dealer only made worse every time they attempted the bungled fix. 5-cyl is underpowered for all but flat, level ground cruising on backroads away from mainstream traffic, I think a stock Pontiac 2000 would give this thing a run. I have never been so displeased with a vehicle - and I'm glad its a lease . . . . Toyo/Niss here I come.

Proswell balanced being a light truck this helped with traction in four wheel drive Consno back seat room cant transport passengers comfortably

Good Truck For A Single Person — All around good truck if you need to haul small things or pull a smaller trailer. Not a lot of passenger room which is why i recommended for a single person or family with no children. Moderate off road capabilities but never had trouble in inclement weather. ProsIt's still a truck, but it has good milage and the truck seating. Consnot alot of pulling power

Yeah, Truck. — Great mileage, and has given me no problems. The engine doesn't have as much torque as many would like. The limited slip diff will lock both rear wheels , which helps alot in the snow or ice. The seats are comfy, but anyone in the back seats will be uncomfortable. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosscarlet and grey pinstriping Consnothing negative

Best Truck — xcellent truck!! love it and with manual transmission, its a joy to rip around in!! It has plenty of space for the kids, and has excellent gas milage for road trips to, well, wherever!! nearing its hundred thousand mile mark, and the little four cylinder is still purring so quiet, u can barely hear it!! ProsMileage, size, looks ConsCheap light bulbs, 5 cyl sounds weird!
25
Great For Light Truck Users — Crew cab is great, this is the perfect size truck for what I need. Full size is too big and I don't haul anything, but I like to take my wife and kid camping or throw junk in the bed doing house work, etc. Always good to have a truck around but I'd hate to park a behemoth. I get 22-24 mpg on the freeway. I have had 6 different light bulbs go out in the last 4 years. Weird but all were covered by warranty. And the turn signal, engine, and horn sound funny. Prosgood improvement form sonoma. Conshas problem with cylinder, but is fixed for free by GM.

A Step Up From The Sonoma. — If you're gonna get this truck, spring for the 5th cylinder engine. It makes a difference. Fuel economy on this truck is greathowever, it is a little awkward, for me, to get into the truck cuz its at that height where you have to kinda step up and bend down to get in. The interior is nice, especially if you get the GFX package withcarbon fibre accents, box rails and step bars. With the crew cab comes a much shorter box, keep that in mind. |
