Cute Lil' Focus! — It not all that fast but its still zippy. It doesn't have very many compartments and the cup holders are stupid. It looks like a girly car- at least I think so. Its really comfortable for road trips and to sleep in... haha. Pretty good on gas if you don't drive like I do. But more than anything... Its cute!

2005 Ford Focus ZX4 ST Review

Pros

Cost-wise; very good, great mileage, seating capacity for 5.

Cons

Avoid the 2005 model, get the 2006-2007 model.  The motor which turns CDs in the headunit is made by Sony for the 2005 model and burns out after a while.  The 2006 and 2007 models are made by Delphi.

Buy It. It Looks Like A Sporty Euro-sedan And Handles Like A Bmw 3-series. — The ST looks more aggressive when the silver grille insert is swapped out with the black one from the SES. I can't give a 5-star rating on the build since there's a LOT of plastic in the interior and unfortunately made more on the "cheap side" causing it to break more easily than in other models. I can only give 4-stars for the 'appearance' category since the black rear-bumper insert doesn't have provisions for a second exhaust tip. This requires fabrication on the user-end. Performance-wise, this car hauls ass and is about as quick as a Mustang GT when purchased as the ST package. On long road trips, a trip to Austin and back was made on only one tank of gas and totalled 408 miles. The Fun Factor increases considerable when adding performance parts from www.steedafocus.com and www.focussport.com. If you're a gearhead, opt in for the Cosworth build-up kits.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

A Tough Little Car — I was looking for something a little better on gas than a mini van and I found it. Great little car and it was cheap to run and for repairs ( which was minable). It was a wagon so it was a little more roomier than a sedan which was very useful.

Very Worthy Car At Cost, Handling, And Durability. — The limited times I have driven it yet were a joy. I have made small fixes with this car and it runs like a dream. It's very low maintenance cost car which is also easy to fix even for the average car owner capabilities.

Pros

Its not a bad car over all, very reliable, 29 MPG over all

Cons

Its a base model car so there isnt much to it

A Cheap Reliable Car Thats Ok All Around. — It gets ok gas mileage, its needs a few things done to it to be a better car but its been very reliable to me and i love it for that. It is a base model car so there is not much on the car to brake. Its performance for a commuting car is very nice i think.

Pros

Great gas mileage, lots of cargo space, very reliable, it's the perfect camping car.

Cons

Lacks headrests in the back seat.

A Winner! — The Ford Focus Wagon has been a great car for me. I've successfully transported 3 kayaks and 4 bikes on camping trips. This car has good pick up, is responsive, and is fun to drive. A/C is ice cold!

Fun Car — My 05 Focus hasn't given me a single problem. With the 5 speed manual transmission, it is fun to drive. My other cars are Ford Mustangs which really turn heads, but my Focus gets just as many compliments. Fun car.

Pros

I love my basic, almost pimitively appointed 2005 Focus ZX3. I've run up and down the mountains in Colorado that is mostly only done by 4WD. I coasted down Pikes Peak in first gear and never even tapped my brakes. I've put plastic over the carpet and hauled 1/2 CU topsoil in the back. It's like a high MPG truck/mountain car for me.

Cons

the seats are not comfortable for long distance driving. If I really wanted to, I would go find a fully loaded focus in a salvage place and change out the seats. And add cruise control.

My Focus — I don't write forty words about much of anything. But I will try. I love my focus. It has met all my needs for an economical, high mileage fun auto. When I have to get a new auto it will be a focus.

Gas Milage and storage space are great!

Cons

Not much for leg room in back.

05 Focus Wagon-a Nice Runner With Space For A Few Adventures — The 05 Focus Wagon SES is a good runner which features a hatchback and carrying rack on top making it a nice low cost high gas milage vehicle for short trip adventures. While it doesn't boast much for leg room in back it does have ample front let room. SES comes standard with leather steering wheel and shift cover and 5 disc in dash CD player. A nice car for a modest budget!

Decent handling, gas mileage and looks. Generally a good car

Cons

Alternator takes an act of congress to replace and if extremely costly

Decent Car But Replacement Of Common Bad Items Is Difficult And Costly — I bought my focus new in Ohio when I returned from Iraq in 2004 in the summer. It drove me to California, no problems, then made the trip to Texas a few yrs. later. The main issues I have had are the driver side door power mech went bad (dealer replaced, luckily still under warranty) And most recently, alternator went out. This is placed in such a diabolical position in the car that you must remove and move things you normally never would, and disconnect all the motor/tranny mounts and move it forward just to get the thing out. To boot, the replacement alternators are very expensive. If nothing breaks, this is a good car, but if something does, it will make you wish you had bout something else
