With the most power in its class, and 309 cubic feet of cargo room, this rear-wheel drive commercial van is capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds when equipped with the optional 6.8-liter, 305-hp V10 engine. The standard engine is a 5.4-liter, 255-hp, 350 lb-ft of torque V8, and there is an optional 6.0 turbodiesel V8 that gets 250-hp, but 440 lb-ft of torque. The V10 and turbo come with a 5-speed auto tran, while the standard 5.6 V8 is mated to a 4-speed. Four-star crash ratings come from the solid F-series truck platform, the 16-inch wheels, 4-wheel ABS brakes, and dual front airbags. A limited slip rear differential is optional.
A front bench seat can be replaced with captain's chairs, and a second row bench is also available if you want to carry passengers as well as cargo. Air conditioning, intermittent wipers, tilt steering wheel, a tachometer, and a radio are all included, but if you want power features, cruise control, a security system, CD player, or remote entry, you'll have to pay more. A manual sliding side door is available, as are running boards, a trailer hitch, and daytime running lights. The 2005 Ford Econoline Cargo E-350 Extended Van gets around 15/19 mpg, which isn't thrilling for owners, but its power more than makes up for any disappointment.
