Love It, Just Too Small. By corydale79

If we could fit our family in it, and tow a camper, we'd keep it. Now in the market for SUV or Minivan for our family camping trips. Would absolutely buy another Chrysler though. Anyone have a Town an... Read More

Great Ride By Mike

Overall, a decent car. I haven't had any major repair issues (knock on wood), and it's fun to drive. The interior is hard and plasticky, but at least it's interesting. I'd suggest opting for the five-... Read More

CarGurus Overview

The Chrysler PT Cruiser Base, or Standard, model is unchanged for 2005.  A new convertible version is now offered, at a $3000 increase in price

Standard features on this trim include power windows, 15-inch steel wheels, a CD audio system, tilt wheel, air conditioning, and intermittent wipers. The Base convertible receives several additional features.

This model is powered by the modest 2.4 liter DOHC inline four, which generates 150 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is mated to this power plant, and drivers can expect 22/29 mpg fuel economy.

The most common complaint for this model is aimed at the low gas mileage.  Owners and reviewers agree that mixed driving fuel economy in the low 20s is not really acceptable for a compact car.  It is also worth noting the the two more powerful engines don't cause a major decrease in fuel efficiency.

This overview covers the Base trim only.
