Pros

LS engine, big front brakes, easy as hell to maintain, parts are cheap, decent highway mileage, fairly comfortable for long drives

Cons

Inconsistent assembly quality, infamous steering shaft clunk, lots of wheel hop, ancient transmission

A Big, Simple Machine For Big, Simple People Such As Myself — Plenty of grunt, excellent brakes even with rear drums, decent but wallowy handling from the factory. The 3.23 rearend means good mileage on the highway, but pokey acceleration around town, despite 335 lb/ft of torque. Torque management is heavy handed, and the 4 speed automatic sucks. Curb weight is not outrageous, but still 500 lbs heavier than my 1992 model. Despite all that, it will easily crank out mid-7 second 0-60 times and effortlessly hit the 99mph speed limiter. Aftermarket modifications can greatly enhance performance. I get about 17mpg around town and 21-22 on the highway. I've seen as high as 25mpg. Build quality is erratic, but it should hold together for a long, long time. The dash plastic is the hardest, most obnoxiously cheap material known to man. Tons of aftermarket parts available, bulletproof engine, and probably the last of the Chevy trucks recognizable as a "Chevy Truck" rather than an "Amorphous slab of sheetmetal".

Pros

Been a great truck, but I took a job at a Ford dealership and am looking to get an F150..

Cons

Service air bag light just came on.  Someone predicted a corrodid contact on the front sensor.  Not sure how to fix this.

It's Great! Rides And Drives Great — I like this color. The seats are really comfortable. The back seat is big enough for a car seat for my grand kids. I would recomend this truck for anyone. For the money, it should last for a long time. The roll up cover is great when hauling things and the nerf bars make it easy to get in and out of. The 5.3 engine has plenty of power and goes down the highway very nice.

Cons

Awsome Truck, very Fun To Drive. — This truck is a great first car and daily driver. Its got plenty of power and will get up and go when is asked to. The 4.3L V6 has got plenty of towing power as well. Its very fun to drive but rides kind of rough because of the shortwheel base. I would suggest this truck to anyone who is looking for a good looking daily driver.

Glad We Only Leased It — Hauled our family around in comfort. Drove good in the winter. Just was not up to the task of hauling our camper. Found out we do not like clamshell doors for the kids. Overall a good truck just not for us.

My Chevy — originally bought the truck just to tow my DJ trailer around, but i decided that i wanted to build more of a performance truck out of it. its fun to drive, exhaust and intake add a huge power gain and sound great. good for hauling gear and trailers and for hitting the drag strip with. overall just a great ride to have.

Perfect Truck For All Needs — This truck was a limo, a moving truck, a hauler, a camping tent, a bus, there is nothing that this truck can't do. It's been extremely reliable. After 135000 miles the only thing I have replaced was the thermostat. If I was not planning on having a large family I would keep mine.

If You Need A Truck To Use As A Truck, This Is The One For You. — This thing had a lot of power. With all the power though, of course, you lose any kind of fuel economy. You can make up the hurt in your pocket with the fact that these are extremely cheap to maintain.
