ProsEasy to own and drive. ConsFWD, not necessarily fun to drive all the time, old-school 4 speed auto transmission

Great Practical Car For A Student Or Small Family — Performance: Good power for a wagon. Handling and braking were above average as well, you could tell that the chassis was designed for a european market. Fuel milage was was usually 19 city and 29 hwy, which isn't bad for a 6+ year old car. Winter driving was fantastic due to the combination of dedicated winter tires and the FWD layout. It was a tank that could very easily be driven year round without worrying about getting stuck. Build quality overall was good. To me, the front half of the interior felt slightly up-scale with its softer plastics and nice stereo system. The rear was a little bit cheaper feeling, but not bad for its class. Leg room in the back was incredible, as were storage capabilities in the trunk/hatch. Very quiet and smooth ride without knocks or rattles. The select shift functionality (+ and - toggle) stopped working after 90K miles. Appearance: Nothing special to look at, but stood out from the rest of the pack. The redesigned front grill in 2006 looked better than this older style. Interior was open and airy, however, visibility suffered from the Large C pillars in the back. Cost of ownership: Very minimal. This car was reliable for the most part but did need an EGR valve replacement as well as a transmission flush at 95K miles. Transmission had a minor issue with shift smoothness towards the end but nothing noticeable to the average driver. Tires lasted over 30K miles and it was easy on gas. Fun: Although this car wasn't designed to be an exciting car, it was somewhat involving to drive. Power was decent, although top speed was limited to 110 mph. Cornering was good for a car of its size, but steering feel was vague and poorly weighted due to the electric rather than hydraulic assist. Primary Use: Commuting to work

2005 Malibu Maxx Ls — Great family car! First four-door hatchback I've ever seen. The side curtain airbags keep the kids safe in the back seat and they even have two sunroofs to let the sun in. Each side has a retractable shade, so if one kid is hot and one wants their sunroof open, everyone stays happy. The back seat also has a separate cd player/radio so the kids can listen to their music on the headphones and you can listen to yours. Great acceleration and handling. The best part about it is the gas mileage. A V6 that is averaging 29 mpg! Plus, it's fun to drive and looks good.

ProsGood all-round balance: performance, utility, economy. ConsA little cheap in the plastics department and hard rubber armrests.

Solid, Economical, Ballanced, And Fun To Drive. — This is a good solid car with a good balance of qualities. The hatchback gives it a lot of utility, as well as a definite styling advantage over the sedan. Although the engine dates back to GM's 1980 X-Cars, and sounds a little coarse, it's eager and willing delivering sharp performance with outstanding gas mileage - I average over 30 on the highway and have seen as high as 36.7 on a 444 mile trip. The car is well sized, and its dimensions help deliver spritely handling from its lightly weighted variable electronic power assist steering system. The interior offers a nice two-toned appearance from the beige/brown/woodgrain color package - far "warmer" than the grey color package, though could use more storage options - especially in the cargo bay. The seats are very supportive and offer driver lumbar adjustment standard. The air conditioning is a little weak for a car with so much window area on days over 90 degrees. The rear seat slides is split adjustable with slide and recline functions and a fold down armrest. The auto transmission engages smoothly, and has a manumatic feature that really helps in decelerating, or commanding a prompt downshift. Very firm brakes from the four wheel disc system with antilock, they provide a highly linear feel without the "air brakes" affect some cars give when pressing the brake pedal. The audio system includes a comprehensive trip computer and offers extremely good sound for a stock factory system with good bass response, and distortion free treble, however the CD player does not read MP3s, and the system could use a few extra watts of power, and the speakers sometimes audibly "crackle" with too much bass.

I Love My Car — Performance - ~ V6 Engine ~ Excellent braking, I should know I 've had to slam on my breaks. ~ Handling is great, not too easy, but not too hard to turn Build Quality- ~ No repairs have been needed yet and nothing is not working. The exterior is very strong and will withstand a few minor fenders and hits. Appearance- ~ A green hatchback that is excellent for tailgating. The inside is tan cloth with a middle gear changer. NOT A STICK SHIFT. Cost- Cheap. Fun- This car is so much fun to drive. I can fit so much stuff in it and I can fit a bunch of my friends. the seats in the back and the passenger seat recline and fold for even MORE room.

A Billy Goat In Malibu Clothes — I don't actually own this car. It is a company car that I take home at night and use forr personal use. Overall, it is a great utility car. It doesn't do anything that well, but well enough. It is a TOUGH and durable car. I use it everyday driving through muddy, rocky, rutted paths and it never complains. Satisfied Right Now — Great acceleration from the 200 hp V6. Drives very well on the highway and on the roads in the city. The interior is made cheap but the car is nice inside. The gas mileage is phenomenal for a V6, I can get over 1000km a tank on the highway. The car is pretty fun to drive , I will enjoy it until it starts to fall apart after 100,000 km as most north american makes and models do !!!!!!!!!!! Primary Use: Commuting to work |
