Best Vehicle I've Ever Owned! — I absolutely love my VW - we have 3 in our household. It is the 2nd brand new car I've purchased - ever, I've had it 3 1/2 years and every time I get in it - it's like the first time. I bought a brand new Saturn Ion just before the VW - drove it for 6 months and after driving a VW Golf, I was thoroughly convinced I had to dump the Saturn and get myself a VW. I originally leased this car, and ended up buying out the lease early because I loved the car so much. I am not sold on the styling change after 04, they look more like Japanese cars to me now....but nothing beats the engineering of a VW.

German Masterpiece!! — I traded my 2000 Lexus RX 300 in for a used 2004 Passat W8 4motion wagon. What a beautiful and meticulously crafted piece of machinery. It drives and handles like a sports sedan without the harsh ride qualities associated with a sports sedan. The engine has tons of low end torque and is as smooth as silk. It has tons of cargo room and plenty of back seat room for my kids. I also love the styling especially the rims and the meaty looking tires. Great vehicle!!!

Pros

Effortless (if not dramatic) acceleration, roomy.

Cons

Maintenance/repairs come hard and fast

Great Autobahn Cruiser And Occasional Backroad Carver If You Know A Mechanic Or Do The Work Yourself — Superb gas mileage, manual transmission is a joy to swap cogs with, precise (if somewhat numb and slightly heavy) steering, exceptionally dampened ride without feeling at all float, though it does roll a bit in more aggressive maneuvers. Acceleration from 2500rpm onwards is very good; with close to 200hp, though, the limitations of FWD become quite apparent under hard acceleration . Quiet around town, with some road and wind noise at speed. Maintenance is quite expensive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Cons

Plastic water pump!

Love It And Always Will — 4Motion awd is great, have passed all the 4x4's in the snow. Super comfortable to drive, The turbo engine is spectacular, peppy and great on gas! Had to replace the water pump at 90,000Kms, they shouldn't use plastic parts, but otherwise have given me no problems! Would buy again!

Comfortable German Car — We owned this car for about 5 years, just enough to pay it off. It was a fine car, but had some quality issues (I thought). The CV boots never lasted very long. The transmission (4 speed automatic) would not unlock correctly when you came to a stop and there was nothing they could do about it (they said-the Dealer), short of a $4500.00 replacement. No way. It was great other than the trans and the cv boots until the Generator packed it in at about 56,000 miles. The non-dealer garage that replaced it made a mess of it and we had to have it all done again, this time at the dealer, after a year of it. It was costly, but it seemed the issues were mostly fixed. Too bad about it's bad points, because we liked the car otherwise.

Allmost A Saab — Very competent stealth wagon with lots of cargo and people space/ trips in bad weather to PA are secure on roads that are untreated in winter/ basically an AUDI all wheel drive system that VW discontinued because it was really a bargain/ very reliable if maintained Brakes were good for 80 K miles before replacement in rear, 90K in front Timing belt replaced at ten year mark and performance is still good with 26 mpg on platinum plugs

Great Car Especially W/awd For The Snow And Ice. — Great Styling, timeless given its age. Runs great with good fuel economy. Great braking and handles well with new tires. Also great visibility and cargo space with all the windows. perhaos tinting the rear windows would be a good improvement for the next owner.

Awesome — Great car for speed and handling as well as safety. I didn't have to worry about my families safety when in this car. I would suggest this car to anyone with a family. Plenty of room for long trips and comfort.
