ProsGreat fuel economy, great style, comfortable ConsNone so far

My First Vw — The review for this car can be summarized in one short question. Got 50mpg? Car is comfortable and roomy. Handles great in rain or shine. Looks great! I just hoping the price of diesel fuel stays low. If all goes well I will stay in the TDI family for a long time. Primary Use: Commuting to work

If You Want Overall Versatility, The Golf Is The Best Choice — mid to high performance( Cam, underdrive pulley, suspension, brakes, tires, exhaust, CAI, GIAC chip, HID Lights) Build Quality- only repairs needed, was a timing belt, water pump, alternator) Appearance- I get compliments everywhere I go Cost of Ownership- about 25 mpg, and $40 oil change twice a year. Very Fun to Drive Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

German Engineering Used To Mean Made In Germany — 90k in salt and snow, over mountainous passes and winding dirt roads. No rust. No repairs required until this year, put in a new starter. Otherwise all I've put into it is oil filters fluids brakes bulbs, and shocks and a new battery a few months back (OEM battery lasted 8 years in the Northeast!). However, I drive it like a truck. It's loaded with 100s of lbs of materials driven on mountainous back roads, many unpaved. so replacing oem shocks at 85k means they took a serious beating. I love rack and pinion. I want handling and absolute control around corners and tight spots. This car delivers. I've owned a GTI, diesel Passat, diesel wagon. But fossil fuels are a thing of the past, it's on to a hybrid. Fun And Powerfull In The Mountains — This car has been virtually maintaince free for 120k. It now has a weird rattle. If that gets fixed then I think I can get another 80k out of it. Only problem with car has been 17 year old son, who keeps running it into things. Now it has numerous little dents. Primary Use: Commuting to work
