Good For Environment- So Thumbs Up For Me — Like it...but not much power when you do need it. It's a hybrid so that's a huge plus for gas mileage as well as the environment. I'd buy it again. It's been a good car. Thumbs up rating in my book Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsAmazing MPG ConsSo-so highway passing power

2004 Toyota Prius — Adequate acceleration, loads of room, lots of techie toys, and MPG that totally dominates even when driven like a normal car. The 2nd Generation Toyota Prius really has defined how the future of fuel efficient vehicles are going to be. If I'd had to nit-pick and add an item to my wishlist. It would be a turbocharged engine to further enhance the highway passing power of this vehicle.

ProsGood space, gas mileage, comfortable ConsDoesn't accelerate quickly

First Car I Bought And I Loved It, But Need Something Bigger Now — I liked everything about this car from the cost to maintain it to the ease of getting my two children in and out of the car without hitting their heads on the too low roof, problem we have with my husbands car. We took it on several longer trips to see family and it was comfortable the whole way, even 7months pregnant. With the back seats able to fold down we've impressed quite a few people with just how much we can haul in our trunk. I wish they had a van like this but haven't found anything similar and with a growing family it's time to move on to something bigger. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsLots of space car-wise to haul stuff. ConsPoor city gas mileage.

Prius Not The Best Commuter Car. — Cost of ownership is good. Appearance is good. Gas mileage in the low to mid 30s for city driving. May not be that fun because it's smallish engine may be underpowered. Multi-info display was fixed on recall. Make sure to have a pest repeller in your garage or if rats, etc get in your engine compartment, they may bite into the electricals and wreck it. tehn you can't start. What it's cold, the battery may die and need charging. Primary Use: Family transportation

To Drive A Prius Is To Love A Prius — Test drive one and you'll know! But I speak from experience, mine has 117,000 miles on it and I've NEVER had to put in in the shop and I can't say the same thing about ANY other car I've ever owned! Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsReliability, gas saver ConsAppearance, performance

Great Commuter Car — This is a decent car and a great commuter car. If gas mileage is what you are looking for this is the place to be, I get about 50 MPG on average. Performance wise this car leaves something to be desired and appearance wise it is not a very attractive car but that being said it is very reliable and a great gas saver Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsGas mileage, precise and linear steering, functional and comfortable interior, roomy cargo area Consstyle, acceleration, handling isn't very sporty
35
Functionality Reigns Over Style In The Prius — The Prius doesn't win style or extra feature points. It's just a bare bones gas mileage maven. Acceleration is tepid, but the interior is very quiet and serene. The styling, on the exterior at least, is a real turn off. Interior styling is usable and functionality reigns. Front seats can be uncomfortable but for a midsize car the backseat is roomy and supportive. Gas mileage is fabulous -- we have only seen below 40 mpg during extended uphill sections and it is almost always near or above 50. The steering can be too light with too little feedback.

Love My Prius! — I LOVE MY PRIUS! I will be getting another one in 2010 for a weekend car. Performance: Handles great. I drive it like a sports car. Build Quality: Great! I have 135,000 miles on the odometer! Appearance: Would love a sunroof. Cost of Ownership: Gets awesome gas mileage (avg. 48 mpg), routine maintenance (oil changes) Fun Factor: FUN! FAST!

Just A Great Family Car That Makes You Feel Better About Yourself. — While there are flaws on this car such as seat comfort, lack of standard Ipod hook up and a few other minor nit-picks that arise from time to time, overall this is a fantastic car. My lifetime mpg is 53.7 over 57,500 miles and it drives like a charm, never a serious problem. Owner for 3 years, 6 months Miles Driven per Year:15,000 |
