2004 Porsche Boxster Base Review
Proshandling, style, open air motoring ConsIf you live in polar regions.

Buy One, Enjoy It — Fun car to drive, amazingly forgiving on a race track, quite reliable and so far no rattles or squeaks. It needs more power, though. We compete against much more powerful cars and it has shown it's tailights to a lot of them. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Proshandling finish and trunk space Constoo low to the ground and expensive to maintain

Custom Porsche — The Boxter is the most stable configuration of any of the Porsche I have driven. Mid engine weighting is fantastic on twisty roads. The finish is impeccable. The only issue is acceleration. My BMW M Roadster had more streight line acceleration, but didn't handle as well. I also had SpeedArt custom nose and side skirts so it looked like a 911 from the door sill forward and a boxter from the back. The best of both worlds.

2004 Porsche Boxster S Special Edition Review
ProsAbsolutely gorgeous, perfect comfort, all the bells and whistles. Neck-snapping acceleration: 40-60 in one second (2nd gear, of course). Out-handles just about everything else on the road - including most 911s! ConsPorsches are expensive!

If The Batmobile Were Comfortable And Didn't Need Armor Or Guns, It Would Be This Car. — 265 horse, 3.2-liter ( flat-six: 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds. Top track speed of 165. Handling is incredible with its suspension beefed up, 5 mm wheel spacers all the way around, standard 18-inch Carrera wheels with massive slotted discs, 15% shorter shift travel in the six-speed manual transmission. . There's nothing like a Porsche, the Boxster is a mid-engine dream, and the Special Edition Boxster is truly one-of-a-kind. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Gotta Drive One — I love the way it takes the tight turns and quick accelaration. Of course the fact that it's a convertible makes it a perfect car for driving around California. Fun car to drive withour a doubt and plenty of juice Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsSuperb room for two and luggage ConsNot cheap

Boxster Joy — During the 2 day session at Nelson Ledges race track with the Porsche Club I was amazed at how this mid engine car with relatively low torque ran with then pushed much more powerful cars, including turbos. Two cars spun out ahead of my trying to stay ahead. Only the radiio was below my expectations. So, I replaced it with a superb system from Alpine with a 500 watt amp, new speakers all around (four behind the seats) added SIRIS Sat stealth and the system is now world class (like the car).
