The mid-line offering in the minivan lineup is the 2004 GMC Safari SLE, which adds a few more standard features to what you find on the base model. The rear-wheel drive minivan is powered by a 4.3-liter, 190-hp V6 and 4-speed automatic with tow/haul mode. Rear-wheel drive and the truck platform allows up to 5400 pounds of towing with an optional trailer hitch, and an optional roof rack adds more storage space. Three rows of seats inside fit eight people, and the rear rows can be folded down to quadruple the 40 cubic feet of storage space. Automatic headlights, daytime running lights, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, and dual front airbags are standard safety features. A locking differential can be added.
The 2004 GMC Safari SLE Passenger Van adds keyless entry, a CD player, and a security system to the power features, cruise control, air conditioning, intermittent wipers, privacy glass, and tilt steering wheel that already exist from the base model. A longer list of options accompany the SLE and include a power driver's seat, rear climate and audio control, a rear window wiper, and a trip computer. Drivers like the good use of space, but wish the van got better than 15/20 mpg and had a more updated interior.
This overview covers the 3 Dr SLE Passenger Van Extended trim only.
