Prefect size.  Gas milage not too bad

Cons

V6 isn't the most powerful.

I Love My Truck — I really like my truck. Crew cab is the only way to go. Fun to drive with manual trans. I like the look of the 2nd Gen Dakotas alot more than the ugly new ones. Really awesome truck. The only thing I wish is that there were more aftermarket parts (like lift kits and performance chips) available.

Pros

Flat out its just a beast. Durable, powerful and a true workhorse, dodge really outdid themselves with this truck

Cons

the gas milage...and the differential when its in 4wd is only one way so all 4 tires turn at the same rate which makes turning impossible on dry pavement, but in snow/mud its a blast

All Around Great Truck To Own. — Props, it really gets up and goes for only having that little 4.7 in her. Gas mileage is terrible, but its a truck. It gives you that truck feeling with out the high placed seating from a Ford f series or a Chevy k10 of the same era. The Powertech 4.7 is a workhorse, wish i had a 5.9 magnum, but we've towed a 4,200lb car with a 500 lbs trailer for over 100 miles, twice and the truck takes it in stride like it wants more. If you take care of this truck she'll last a LONG time, ours is 8 years old and people are amazed when i tell them that.

Pros

Accelerates quite well.  New Michelins in correct size made huge improvement.  (Girlfriend bought this truck used 3 years ago from dealer with new tires installed by them in the wrong size.)

Cons

Huge blind spots at mirrors & A columns.  Ride could be better.  Wheels are a unique bolt pattern.

I Would Not Have Bought It, But Girlfriend Likes It. — Fun to drive but requires 101% concentration due to the nasty blind spots. Girlfriend loves blowing away a Supra or Tundra accelerating down the on-ramp but they don't seem to like it much. We do all the work on it for the three years and 35K miles we have had it, so been very reasonable to maintain so far.

Sweet Dodge Dakota — This truck has exceptionally low miles for a 2004 truck (less then 9,000 miles avg. per year) and has every extra you could want with the addition of an after market exhaust. It's in excellent mechanical condition with no leaks. Great truck! Thanks for looking.

ability to handle alberta winters, especially drifted backroads. Decent highway fuel mileage.

Cons

doesn't like to shift into overdrive in colder weather, and tailgate doesn't like to stay close in the cold

Reliable And Capable For A General Use Vehicle. Good For A College Student — Good 4x4, good power. decent pulling for a midsize truck. just about 120,000 and very few issues. 4.7 V8 has a nice rumble with a dynomax exhaust. Decent fuel mileage on highway. Looks good, simple interior. I enjoy driving it. Handles the larger tires well, doesn't take much extra power to turn them.

A Perfect Truck For Me — its awesome. It has 4.7 liter v8 and handles great. it is a little custom with straight pipes and a fancy grill. 16 to 20 mileage. The windows are great.they roll down. and if i'm in a bad mood, it chears me up to go for a drive

transmission blew

25

Crummy Transmission — Transmission blew out at 65,000 or so. Did drive from Connecticut to Texas in it. Gas isn't bad, neither is the regular maintenance. It is all right to drive, not a thrill seekers vehicle, but steady. I just hate that the transmission blew out.

Cons

The Beast — This truck is an absolute off-road beast. Equipped with locking diffs an 4.6L V8 there's hardly a place where it cannot go. The only real complaint about this truck was the size. For such a big vehicle the cab was extremely small and uncomfortable, especially head room and hip room. Fuel economy was also pathetic with the off-road package.

Great power (v-8)

Cons

Fuel economy

25

Its Ok — Overall good "small" truck. Great power (v-8). It Handles ok, fuel economy leaves a bit to be desired. Head gaskets are weak, a single overheat destroyed first engine, and it required replacement. pretty easy to work on if you are a wrench.
