Pros

I've had this car for 9 years and I haven't had any serious problems with it. Of course all vehicles needs parts replaced after a matter of time.

Cons

I just can't figure out why this check engine light has been going on and off for a couple months now. I believe it's the pcv hose/valve. I know this is an easy fix so I'm not going to pay a mechanic shop to replace this. I have my own mechanic and he saves me a lot of money. Once I get the proper valve, he will repair it.

I Love My Car — I really don't dislike anything about my car. I wish it had less miles on it than it does but that's about it. It has almost 170,000. But I've taken very good care of it and it runs very smooth and quiet.

Not A Car That I Would Want To Sit In My Driveway For More Than A Few Years. Ready To Get Rid Of It — I dislike the handling, power, looks, and overall performance. It gets my family and I to point A to point B so in that aspect, I cannot complain. When you try to rev the engine it seems as though the engine is straining without any results. Poor performance and even poorer craftsmanship. Do not buy this car.

Total Beauty — I loved this car, I bought it in early 2005 and it was everything its supposed to. it drove easily and quietly, comfortable front and back seats, ac Works great, it picks up speed quite fast. I raced a standard nissan and lost it in my rear view. it has the confort of a famiily car but the style of a sports car. loved the way the dash and center consol just wrap perfectly, made for driver confort. it was very easy to clean as stains would come off easy. nothing wrong with it when i owned it. loved it and still wish to own another 2004 cavalier.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Dependable, stylish enough on its own

Cons

Front seats are bad for the back, and I always lose the "want me to drive" question, because passengers think that the passenger seat is too low and uncomfortable.

Sturdy, Dependable, Stylish-looking Car — It's only started shedding parts recently (2012) since 2004. Until now, no problems. Have recently replace my starter, my windshield wiper linkage, and am now struggling with my shifter linkage. I've driven her to Lubbock and back (Austin) several times, and taken a few other road trips.

Great Daily Use Car — This car is excellent for daily commute use. It will not hold back any traffic as it is much faster than most people give it credit for. The size makes it able to avoid pot holes and the fold down rear seats let it hold enough luggage or groceries for just about anyone. This car was modified to become the Chevy Cobalt after 2006 (?). The inside and engine were pretty much the same. Chevy had the mistaken impression that the Cavalier was a bad reputation car. It had some years where it wasn't as dependable as others just as the Ford Taurus and several other cars. Main thing I liked was that it has a timing CHAIN, not a BELT. So it doesn't need that several hundred dollar job to change the belt every 60,000 or 80,000 miles. Most cars in the sub compact range have a belt.

Good Starter Car For New Drivers — Recently was totaled in a 3 car accident, I was in the middle. Very good passenger protection. I hate that it is gone. Had good power, good mileage, good looks and handling. Did not care for the cheap interior. Oh well.

My Chevy Cavalier — This car isn't too bad. It gets me where I need to go and it didn't really cost me too much to safety. Gas mileage is pretty decent, I just got over 500 kms on $50 worth of gas so I can't complain.

O.k Car, Excellent For The Price — It was a good car for the price. Those are some of the cheapest cars you could purchase, used or new, back then. It was fun to drive, had good mileage (7l/100km) and was quite roomy for a compact car. The seats were awful and cheap, but what can you expect for a 12,000$ car when new (in Canadian dollars). Much bigger and reliable than a Hyundai Accent of the same vintage for a comparable price. The clutch throw was long and the shifter was quite stiff and unpleasant, and the car was noisier than the Chevette I currently drive. The ecotec engine was a great improovement over the older ones, but it was still very noisy and sounded like it was eating itself away past 3000rpm, although it was quite reliable.

I Love It So Far — The hood keeps sticking and I have to replace the latch because of it but I looked all over online and it's great on gas and has no real problems other than the dash board chipping away at corners near the steering wheel.
