The Linear sedan is powered by Saab's 2.3 liter inline four, which generates 185 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission, while a five-speed automatic transmission with the Sentronic manual shifter is optional. The Linear comes equipped with leather upholstery, heated power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, OnStar, steering wheel audio controls, cruise control, heated power mirrors, a trip computer, a power sunroof, a glove box refrigerator and automatic-off headlights. Electronic stability control is also now standard, as Saab attempts to maintain the 9-5 as a class leader in safety.

There are no significant changes to the Aero trim level this year, aside from the option of ventilated sport seats. The Aero is also powered by the 2.3 liter inline four, found in the Linear, but the small engine has been tweaked for 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque here.
The Arc's ventilated leather seats are swapped for sport seats on the Aero, to create a more performance-oriented presentation. The wood interior trim has also been removed. Exclusive Aero features include performance tires and stiffly-tuned sport suspension.

Arc buyers are only offered the five-speed automatic transmission, now with Saab's Sentronic steering wheel-mounted manual shifter. Additional features at this trim level include ventilated front seats, a memory system for the driver's seat and mirrors, heated rear seats, a premium Harman/Kardon sound system and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Aero trim includes additional features like a sport-tuned suspension, larger wheels and 17-inch performance tires. Heated rear seats are no longer included. Aero models are also finished with a sportier interior, missing the ventilated seats and wood accents found in the Arc. Ventilated sport seats are now optional.
The 9-5 wagons increase cargo space by 17 cubic feet, and also add roof rails, a cargo cover, and an optional roll-out loading floor.
The Aero's 2.3 liter inline four generates 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The optional five-speed automatic now features the Sentronic manual shift feature.

The five-speed automatic is the only transmission pairing, but Saab's Sentronic manual shift function is now included. The wagons can carry 73 cubic feet of cargo, 16 beyond that of the sedan, and also include roof rails and a rear cargo cover. Saab also offers a clever convenience option: a roll-out cargo loading platform.
The Arc adds ventilated front seats, a memory driver's seat and mirrors, a Harman/Kardon sound system and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
