2003 Saab 9-3 Trims and Specs

The Linear trim is new for 2003, and this model is slatted as the entry level 9-3 sedan. The Linear houses the most modest of all 9-3 power plants: a turbocharged 2.0 liter four which makes 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Buyers may choose between a five-speed manual or an optional five-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include keyless entry, heated mirrors, full power accessories, a trip computer, cruise control, OnStar, steering wheel audio controls and a CD player. The Linear has a more luxurious presentation than any of the previous entry level 9-3 sedans, due to the inclusion of leather upholstery, and leather trim on the steering wheel and shifter.

Safety equipment includes ABS, traction control, stability control, front and rear head airbags and daytime running lights.

The new Arc is now the mid-level 9-3 sedan. It is powered by a more potent version of the 2.0 liter inline four, turbocharged for 210 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a new six-speed manual transmission, and a five-speed automatic, also new, is optional. The Arc includes all of the features found on the Linear, plus power seats, a premium sound system and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The top shelf Vector sedan shares an engine with the Arc. This 2.0 liter turbocharged inline four supplies 210 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. The transmission options are also the same: a six-speed manual is included while a five-speed automatic is optional. The Vector is differentiated from the less expensive Arc by the addition of sport seats, 17-inch wheels, a memory function for the driver's seat and a special aluminum/alloy interior trim.

The SE Convertible is the only 2003 9-3 model to retain one of the older engines. The 2.0 liter inline four supplies the SE with 205 horsepower and 209 pound-feet of torque. It is not eligible for the new transmission options, The SE comes equipped with keyless entry, power front seats with a memory function for the driver, a trip computer, steering wheel audio controls, cruise control, OnStar, automatic climate control and an anti-theft system. The SE upscale presentation includes leather upholstery, wood accents, and leather trim on the steering wheel and shift knob.
