I Guess It's Okay. — Sylvie the Silver Sentra is my second, and current, car. She is on a buy out, and will be fully mine this time next year. I plan on keeping her for a while and enjoying life without car payments for the first time in 8 years. I am not nearly as satisfied with Sylvie as I was with Dusty, but she does alright. My biggest issue with her has become the funny story that makes the answer to all unidentifiable car problems "the grounding cable!!!". To sum: Sylvie, age 2 1/2, wasn't starting reliabily, and was clicking when I turned the key (still had power though, it wasn't a dead battery). Now, pretty much since I got her, whenever it was wet I had a squeaky belt. Whenever I asked my oil change guys about it they said, "don't worry, not a problem". So I didn't worry till this started. The car guys I took it to (not my oil change guys) told me that the squeak was in fact a problem, and that it meant my belts weren't tight enough, therefore they weren't charging the battery properly, therefore I not only needed to change my belts, I needed a new battery. Now, I didn't like this explanation, because the remote worked, the lights went on when I opened the door, and the radio would go on when I was in the "on" (not "start") position with the key. But who am I to argue? Needless to say, I was right, and a week later when I was supposed to be leaving with Sylvie to go out of town, she did it again. This time they came up with "the grounding cable needs to be replaced", and after hours at the shop and no apoligies for the misdiagnosis, we were on our way. The only other issue was maybe a year after I got her (still within warranty), the spring or whatever it is that controls the temperature knob broke and I couldn't turn it back and forth. While I didn't have to pay anything for the repair, I did have to leave at the dealer for 3 days (not to mention resetting my radio settings!) while they fixed their cheap plastic workmanship. Right now I'm a little over 55k miles and it's time to replace the tires and brakes, and I've already done the coollant hoses. The oil change people say I should do a transmission flush too, but I don't know how much I trust them these days.

Pros

Lots of torque. Bold stlying.  6 speed transmission with Limited Slip Differential

Cons

Not a ton of bolt on modifications.

Best Compact Sports Car By Far — The B15 Sentra SpecV is a race and skyline inspired small conpact sports car. With a ton of low end torque it digs out of the hole. The Engine although not the most powerful is very responsive and the car loves to just get up and go. A turbo kit is the best way to just unleash all of this car's potential. Overal this car is the best bang for your buck. Trust me when you can out run Mini Cooper S, Most Honda Civics, stock 5.0L mustangs, and 300 series BMWs you have a quick car.

Pros

Fun to drive, quick, good on gas

Cons

Cheap feel to the interior, issues from the factory that could potentially kill the car.

Good Car That Is Surprisingly Quick. Just Don't Expect That Much From The Interior. — The '03 Sentra SE-R is a good little car. The exterior styling has an aggressive look, but the interior is essentially the same rental car feel of the normal Sentra. There is too much hard plastic in the interior, and there are some minor squeaks that come from the dome light and the occasional rattle in the doors from excess bass in the stereo. As far as mechanicals are concerned, the car has been very reliable, with the only real problem I have had being a leaky A/C hose. There is a big issue that I was able to take care of before any problems arose. The stock exhaust header has a catalytic converter built in, and the catalyst substrate material tends to break up and can get sucked back into the motor. An after-market header takes care of this problem. In it's stock form, the SE-R is pretty quick, and is fun to toss around on the back roads. With my added header and catback exhaust, however, there is some real power to the car. The gas mileage is fairly decent, I average about 23 MPG driving on mostly back roads. Overall, this is a fun little car, and despite some interior quality issues, is well worth looking at. Just make sure to get rid of the stock header and the pre-catalyst of death.

Pros

One of the fastest naturally aspirated (non turbo) 4 bangers out there.

Cons

Butterfly screws have been known to come loose and fall into your cylinders....6 years and hasn't happened to me.

This Car Is A Great Bang For Your Buck...gears 1-3 Have Unbelievable Power. — Performance: Acceleration is great...Braking could use an upgrade but I haven't the need to get a big brake kit...Handling could also use an upgrade if your tires can keep up. Build Quality: Only in recent years have things started to go wrong on it, but it is getting old (replaced flex pipe, currently has an air leak). Before all this happened nothing was wrong with it. Cost of Ownership: Good but not great gas mileage and maintenance has never been that much of an issue. Fun Factor: I absolutely love this car, but I'm looking to sell it. I can finally afford a Z, but I need to sell this car first.

Pros

Great economical car, 24 mpg city / 32 mpg highway, Clean Interior

Cons

Really Slow Car

My 2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8 Gxe — Well its a decent daily driver. The performance is not the best for a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder at 129hp. Exterior and interior are nice and clean. Gas mileage is around 24 mpg city / 32 mpg highway. So yea Its a decent car for your normal day to day driving.

Pros

Great inexpensive sporty first car.

Cons

moonroof and camshaft/crankshaft sensors aren't cheap to repair.

If You're Looking A Fun Car And Don't Want To Look Like All The Other Civic Si Drivers Out There. — Good first car to have fun with. Limits are high enough that you don't get bored easily. Had some issues with sensors and the moonroof but otherwise okay. Really like the appearance of the 2003 more than the later years, just wish I could find someone to trade me their newer tail lamps.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
