Maxima Driver — I bought this vehicle used, it had around 33K when purchased. I use it for a daily driver. It has been a great car, no complaints. Strong V6. MPG I average around 28 city and 33 hwy. Color is a charcoal metallic with a light gray leather interior. Good intro luxary car.

Pros

Power, performance, luxury, Bose stereo system, decent MPGs for a performance engine

Cons

Factory stereo is finicky, needs a more aggressive stance - I can't afford lowering springs, styling's a bit awkward in areas.

Underrated And Overlooked. I'm Sure Your Rsx Is Quick Though, I'm Sure. — 255 stock hp (about 265 right now w/mods) Sport Suspension Titanium Package Meridian Package I was never really into cars. Then I bought this in '06. Nissan's VQ is the best V6 on the market, dollars for horses. Period. I love the ride, the acceleration, and the handling. Wish there was a better aftermarket for it...

Pros

Fast car that really puts off as a sleeper. Lives up to its 4dsc heritage.

Cons

Horrible torque steer and a transmission that shouldn't have ever existed (no overdrive or
sports mode).

25

Fun Sedan To Drive Around With A Good Amount Of Power On Tap — A good car with enough horsepower to make anyone happy. The car overall is solid with mild torque steer when pushing the car at WOT. The car is very responsive, but the automatic transmission really holds it down. 0-60 time is typically 6.7 seconds. The handling of the car is similar to any other fwd car. The added bonus is sporty feel of the suspension.

Pros

Fun to drive, great soundsystem, bold lines.

Cons

SUV like gas mileage if you drive like an asshole.

Never One Mechanical Problem — Quick, light, and agile, while surprisingly spacious four door saloon that smacks the American competition clear across the face, best in its class, hands down.

Pros

Powerful, luxurious, heated steering wheel (for those of us in the Great White North, that's a huge feature!) - awesome value

Cons

I no longer have it.

Great Value, Stupid Power, Ve!ry Luxurious — Great value for the money. Obscenely powerful, big, comfy and luxurious, even moderatly good on gas., tons of luxury and fun options. Gorgeous Interior! I wish I never got rid of it.

Pros

Powerful engine, good sound system

Cons

Fuel economy, overall performance

Decent Car — It only took one test drive to tell that this was not the car for me... While it does accelerate, brake, and handle decently for a mid-size car, it simply did not impress me like the numbers did. 265HP seems like a very impressive number, but the car just doesn't seem like its that powerful. Nice car, but did not meet up to my expectations.

Pros

Sweet engine, well equipped, operation cost is a little high..

Cons

Reliability could be better

Good Luxury Car, Could Be More Reliable (on The Electric Side) — Sweet engine. Linear, smooth and plenty of power. The brakes are ok, handling is feeling a bit numb. I had two maxima like this and experience the same problem... oxygene sensor!!!! seems to be a problem that owner of this generation encounters frequently... But the the quality of the interior is really good and all the equipment you could think of in a luxury car is there (climate control, heated front seats, heated steering...) The maintenance and pieces of the maxima though is a bit expensive...

Pros

Good quality built, reliable car. Service and parts not cheap, but this is a performance car, so It could not be cheap. I owned that car for 10 years, never had any major problem. Change Alternator once and Cam shaft sensor. That will be all repair for 10 years of daily driving in Southern California Extreme Hot condition.

Cons

MPG is not that great. Combined City/HWY I could get about 18-20 MPG, not even close to what Nissan Advertised. Using Cruise Control on Long Distance MPG come close to 21-22 MPG. But compare MPG with Performance and handling I don't mind that low MPG. Uses ONLY Premium Gas.

Excellent Car, Perfect Handling And Performance. Smooth Ride. — Excellent Acceleration, Performance and response, comfortable ride. 0-60 MPH in under 4.9 seconds. Sharp breaks, using original Nissan pads never have any squeaking noise. Fun to drive. Car fills safe and stable on the road. It was the best car I ever owned.

Would Recommend This Car To Anyone — This is my 2nd 2003 maxima, after owning my first se model back in 03 i fell in love with the max. absolutely fun to drive pretty good on gas for a car that is like a rocket out of the hole. only issues i had with the se were it went thru brakes and tires fairly quickly(2 complete sets of brakes within 60k and it ate up the factory tires by 30k)i enjoyed the car but didn't beat it to bad. had to replace the front struts by 65k, all of these issues i learned from other owners were common. this car never left me stranded, was great in the snow and was just plain solid. ended up getting rid of that car going to volkswagon(allowed my sisters to talk me into it at the time) and after a golf and a jetta went back to the max. funny thing now is my sisters both own nissans pathfinder and max and love them. i liked the new max's but wasn't feeling a $40k loan so i researched and looked for a good used 03, after alot of looking i stumbled on an 03 gle that was traded in the night before i found it, one owner and thinking to myself after looking at the carfax i pulled, the person that owned this purchased it in 03 and spent $28-$30k for it chances are it wasn't a kid and after driving it and seeing the interior(which you could eat off of)and since i worked at an auto auction for 10 yrs and never seen a car 10 yrs old with a 140k miles this clean and still had the factory plastic on the floors and the little tags like are on clothes were still in the carpet to hold the floor mats, unheard of. the gle now with 150k on it runs as good if not better that my se. keep your fluids checked and routine maintaince performed and the max will not let you down. nissan owner for life here, no more straying.
