A Sensible Choice For The Daily Commuter Who Wants A Little Fun In Their Ride. — A nice alternative to the all too common civic or corolla. I would describe the acceleration as adequate (hence 3 stars for performance). Handling has a definite sporty feel. Understeers quite predictably. Easy to drive at the limit. Smooth clutch operation, but shifter lacks the precision of a Honda’s. It shifts smoothly, but just not perfectly. Nice brake feel, easy to modulate. ABS really not necessary since the brakes have a very direct feel. So, this is a fun little car! Great mileage- 30+ on the highway. Just as with other small sedans, cost of ownership is very low. This is a practical, everyday car that has a bit of a sports car feel. If you are in the market for a civic, corolla, etc- don't forget to check out the lancer.

Very Sharp Looking! Suprisingly Fun To Drive And Economically Friendly! — I love driving this car. It was a great choice. Just needs more hp and a little street noise. I would like to upgrade to the 17 inch Enkei brand wheels like the Evo has.. Gas mileage is great, 27 city, 33 hwy!

Economic Fuel Saver — 1800cc and its economical as ever. 5spd Manual - none of this automatic or tiptronic stuff for me! Vehicle has not lost its value in the time I have owned it, and would recommend it to others also. Bring on a the turbo version

Why You Should Prefer Mitsu — I love the sound of the vehicule, and the cars you can modify almost everything of it. You will be fun with this! and it doesn't bother you with the motor. It's a complete car, and you will love it!

Pros

Quality car, fun to drive, great gas economy

Cons

Small trunk, boring stock cd player

My Lancer — I love my car. I have had it for over three years. I never have had any problems with it. Other than little things that need to be changed on any car anyway. (belts, batteries, wipers, lights, etc.) Nothing major yet, and it has over 120,000 miles on it. 90,000 of which I have put on myself since late 2005. I drive the hell out of it and it takes the beating. Gas economy is great. I average about 26-30 mpg. It's rough in the winter, but with some good tires, it handles it wonderfully!! I live in the mountains on the south east side of Salt Lake City, UT. The car is a bit light, so it can take a little time getting up some steep snow-covered hills if you don't have the momentum going. I have only upgraded the cd player and speakers. Only because I wanted more out of it than what it had. I have two kids that fit in the back just fine. Ages 6 and 8. It has a pretty decent push when you are accelerating onto the freeway. The only problem I have is the trunk is a bit small. But I don't use it to help people move, so it is usually fine unless we are going on a trip longer than a weekend. I think it is a very fun car to drive. Sure it's a 4 banger, but it isn't bad at all. It's a sporty-yet-[small]family-friendly car. I enjoy it a lot. Cute little car.

Body Roll

My Lancer — I bought the car used from Enterprise dealership...meaning that it was used as a rental before I bought it. The wonderful thing about this system though is that you get a car that is only 1 year old, in great condition because the dealer had to take care of it for a year, and you pay thousands of dollars less than retail(great for a poor college student paying their way through school but still in need of nice car). Also, pretty nice especially for all those who have had to deal with the new kinks with every car. So besides that, I have never needed a repair. Everything works great! Now I do have to admit that I take car of my car like as if it were my baby (because it is!!). So with regular oil changes and monitoring of any wear on the parts, there are no complaints from my end. The car gets amazing gas mileage, especially on the highway. For example, I live in NC and drive to DC pretty often (which is over a 200 mile drive) and can usually make it in about half to 3/4 of a tank. Also I use to autocross with my car, and I found that the steering is pretty good, the transmission shifts pretty smoothly and car has great handling. The only complaint I have is that the body roll is very noticeable. My friends use to say if they rode with me after drinking one drink, they would be drunk once they got out of car. Granted that has to do with my driving, and I do love to do some autocrossing stuff when they are riding. Besides that, the car is really fun to drive. The speakers are awesome too!! Luckily Mitsubishi made electronics before cars, so they know how to make their stereo equipment. This car is pretty stylish, great for a low budget, and very fun especially for one of my first cars. Plus it's safe, which is always a plus for the parental units.

Reliable Driver With Glitches — the heat and ac system has a air diverter that stuck and no longer works properly we twisted off the knob that operates it I had to disconnect the heater hoses to get cool air in summer

Good Reliable But With Some Quirks. — This is a good small car that is very efficient on gas. The car can go easy on highways and has no problem keeping up. One downside is that it didn't come with Cruise Control which makes it tough to drive long distances. Another downside is the temperature control knob. It's very hard to turn and from what I understand it's a problem with this particular model but Mitsubishi does not have a recall on them which is surprising.

Great First Car — this is my first car to own. i have the 4 speed automatic. i really wish it had one more gear and an overdrive. i think the gas mileage would be way better! over all it is pretty good. decent off the line, but it really hits the power band at about 2800 rpm. the handling is way better than my moms highlander or my brothers malibu. i find the noise level could be brought down some, but it may be something that i did to it when i installed my amp(had to take plastic over driver side wheel off.) the cargo space was quite good i thought until i put my sub back in. the stock stereo is fine, but i wanted more power. the availability of aftermarket parts is also good. there are a lot of small mod things like cold air intakes available. i really have liked my car and someday might turn it in to a racer style!
