The Practical Sportscar — The Evo is a practical way to have the performance of a supercar and the practicality of sedan in a reasonably priced, easy to maintain and usable package. In stock form the car is no slouch, but the iron block 4g63T motor has been overbuilt from the factory to such an extent that in stock form it barely breaks a sweat. To put the strength of the Evo drivetrain in perspective, there are extreme examples of Evo's with stock internals pushing 660hp to the wheels, or around 750hp at the crank on stock internals. With built internals, anywhere between 400 and 1500hp is possible. Performance is about more than just power though. Unless the vehicle can put the power to the pavement, it is nothing more than an expensive burnout machine. The AWD system in an Evo makes sure the power can be put down much more easily, making it possible to get into the power early at an apex and haul ass out of a corner without worrying about power oversteer landing rear end fist into the wall. When it was released in 2003, the Evo had the shortest 60-0 stopping distance (110ft)of any factory production car (tieing with the Ferrari 360 Modena at the time) and lateral grip of 0.95-0.99G on the skidpad. With better tires both of those can be improved significantly in the aftermarket. The steering feel is enhanced by a very short 13:1 ratio steering rack with over 200 additional seam welds compared to the standard Lancer the Evo has an extremely rigid chassis. The car handles very well in stock form and the rigid chassis and great steering set a fantastic platform from which to set upgraded aftermarket suspension. Overall, a very usable, practical, and inexpensive way to go fast and have fun :-)

Cons

Evo Viii Fq330 — 0 to 60 MPH in just over 4 seconds 0 to 100 MPH in 11 seconds. plenty of G's all round. If its thrashed it will get through 55 litres of petrol rather quickly. If you take it steady you might get 200 miles out of a tank. Either way if you like quick, precise go kart style handling cars you wont beat an Evo, unless you have an awful lot of money.

Great Car If You Can Drive It... — The most intence car I have ever driven 0-60 4.5 seconds, 60 foot times of 0.8 seconds, All Wheel drive dounuts, jumping hills at 130 mph with total control , turned and stopped on a dime, and with a top speed of a 155 mph the $25,000 i payed didn't bother me at all.

Pros

Great Perfomance, Affordable, a complete joy to drive and sexy as hell.

Cons

Interior is very basic and not lavish (not that I care!), can be a gas guzzler if you have a lead foot.

The Mitsu Evo 8 Is The Sex! — Love it like a child! Handles great, great acceleration of course... and fun on the open roads! The 4G63 is my favorite powerplant, have owned a 1G Talon TSi as well before I bought the Evo. Just love to keep it in the family! Normal wear and tear parts can tend to be a bit spendy, but all in all I never want to get rid of it! Hoping to get an Evo X to finish up the collection and maybe someday an Evo 6 or 7.

Mitsubishi Ftw — Hands down the best car I have ever owned. This car literally makes you feel like you are driving on rails; that's how well it handles. There was never a car that I ran into on a daily basis that I felt I couldn't beat.

Alright This Is A Good Car But It's A Lot Of Work — This car was in the shop more than I got to drive it, and I mean that. I would say that most of it was my own falt, not like I crashed the thing but I got the car so I could put some performance parts on it and that was it's down fall. the thing was fast as hell but they tell you to leave it alone and not mod it, who the hell buys a car like an Evo 8 with no intention of moding it?
