Pros2.0 liter Turbo has power ConsTransmissin is extremely short and clutch was stiff

Fast, Hated The Transmission And Clutch — Fun to Drive, not a daily commuter, and has absolutley no amenities or safety features. Likes having the RecaroRacing seats. Clutch was so stiff it would put your leg to sleep in traffic. Not my favorite car but it was fun Primary Use: Commuting to work |

U Can Drive Faster In A Corner, Not In Long Street... — evo has very good handling but the power is not too big enough for drag,, it has 4wd and basic engine rotary.. of use for drive, this car can give perfect response in acorner and the accleration,, cause this car was build for rally.. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Looks Great! — I would own no other car for the money that covers performance, look, and fun to drive! Fast stock without mods. Looks great without mods. Great in the winter to drive. Easily upgradable for reasonable price. Rally racing inspired! World Rally Championship (WRC) Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsPower, handling, fun factor ConsPoor gas mileage, no cruise control, more like a track car

The Everyman's Super Car — The fun factor makes it easy to overlook the shortcomings. Love the drive train durability and power, plus TONS of aftermarket support. Don't like the chintzy interior materials that look cheap. Braking comes alive with the right pads. Gas mileage is not good, but is abysmal (5-7mpg) at the track. Tranny is a weak spot - got a 1st-to-2nd grind. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsPerformance, convinence, price ConsExpensive to maintain

Evo 8 — An amazing street car with the power of a super car but the possible convenience of a four door sedan. 2.0 liter four cylinder engine feels so amazing with its turbocharged feel. On the street, and for the price, you really can't beat the performance it delivers whether on the track or the street. The only con I can think of is how expensive it is to run, but it is all worth it to take care of this beast. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

ProsHandling! ConsYour looking for a status car

Solid All Round Performance, No Frills — All round performance wise this car is unmatched. It will do everything well. The best way to appreciate this car is to take it to the track. On top of everything else it will carry you and 3 friends plus luggage comfortably in a pinch. Then drop off your friends a go drive a twisty road. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsSerious performance, practicality, usability, and economy in one nice package. ConsInsurance is higher than most cars in this price range

The Practical Sportscar — The Evo is a practical way to have the performance of a supercar and the practicality of sedan in a reasonably priced, easy to maintain and usable package. In stock form the car is no slouch, but the iron block 4g63T motor has been overbuilt from the factory to such an extent that in stock form it barely breaks a sweat. To put the strength of the Evo drivetrain in perspective, there are extreme examples of Evo's with stock internals pushing 660hp to the wheels, or around 750hp at the crank on stock internals. With built internals, anywhere between 400 and 1500hp is possible. Performance is about more than just power though. Unless the vehicle can put the power to the pavement, it is nothing more than an expensive burnout machine. The AWD system in an Evo makes sure the power can be put down much more easily, making it possible to get into the power early at an apex and haul ass out of a corner without worrying about power oversteer landing rear end fist into the wall. When it was released in 2003, the Evo had the shortest 60-0 stopping distance (110ft)of any factory production car (tieing with the Ferrari 360 Modena at the time) and lateral grip of 0.95-0.99G on the skidpad. With better tires both of those can be improved significantly in the aftermarket. The steering feel is enhanced by a very short 13:1 ratio steering rack with over 200 additional seam welds compared to the standard Lancer the Evo has an extremely rigid chassis. The car handles very well in stock form and the rigid chassis and great steering set a fantastic platform from which to set upgraded aftermarket suspension. Overall, a very usable, practical, and inexpensive way to go fast and have fun :-) |
