70mph In Second Gear With Four To Go. — Performance and speed are exceptional. Quick and light the GT has about 18hp per pound. Mine is equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission which seems to perform far better than the automatic. Cruising for long distance has not been a problem with excellent fuel milage, while the car sacrifices nothing in performance, handling, and thottle response. The only drawbacks to the Tiburon are a few too many cheap plastic parts and the clutch and flywheel are a royal pain the butt to change out.

Pros

It's a budget friendly vehicle with many aftermarket options and girls love it!

Cons

Looking for lots of power from the factory engine? This is not your ride.

I Do Not Regret Buying It! — 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GTV6 (6-Speed Manual) From first glance the car is a sharp looking ride. The only thing that stands out are the headlights with their bright orange reflectors but that is easily taken care of with the vast aftermarket and DIY options. At certain angles, this car can look like a Mustang, Supra, and Porsche put together into one vehicle and as per this point, it takes qualities from each one. From the factory, Tiburons have low horsepower; only 171 whp. However, the lightness and higher torque (181 lbs) seem to make up for it. The stock 0-60 is 7.2 seconds, not bad for the small 2.7 liter V6. Personally, I got the car to run 10.00 seconds on the 1/8 mile without ANY modifications. Fast? No, but again, not bad for a little N/A V6. Where power is lacking from the factory, the aftermarket comes in with multiple supercharger and turbo options. The good thing people may not think is true, is that this car is incredibly easy to tune and with factory forged steel rods and crank, you can boost the factory engine up to 300 whp as a daily driver without concern. One con is the FWD, however it still grips pretty well from a dig and on the turns. The car handles pretty nicely on turns even in the 60 MPH area. Its not bad on gas and with Hyundai's maintenance program things go pretty smoothly. Overall, the car isn't the most powerful or best looking but the aftermarket scene takes care of that. Are the performance parts cheap? No, but they are excellent quality and well worth the cost if you are looking to modify your Tiburon. The car is user friendly, shifts and rides smooth, and I love driving it!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

storage, stable at high speeds, handling

Cons

dealership maintenance, faulty clutch

Hyundai Tiburon Gt V6 --- Clutch Destroyer — It gets the job done. It's most definitely not a performance car, but you can certainly feel the torque in second gear around 3500rpms to 5500ish. It feels very solid on the road even over 100mph. Build Quality: Haven't had any major problems with the car other than having to replace the AC and the Clutch around 60,000 miles. The timing belt snapped around 65,000 miles. The interior plastic pieces are peeling and showing major wear, even though it has all been cleaned regularly (maybe it's the cleaner I've used in the past). As long as you take care of the Tib, it'll take care of you. Appearance: The clearcoat on the spoiler, gas cap and rims has been weathered badly. I had a friend spray paint the rims and gas cap, which covered up the nasty peeling that the paint was doing. However, I don't want a gunmetal spoiler and I've considered removing it, but then I'll have to relocate the center brake light. Cost of Ownership: Everything so far has been covered by the 100,000 mile warranty aside from the clutch. I would recommend you go to a local repair shop for a clutch repair, as it cost me over $2,000 through the dealership since it was not under warranty and they claim it's a special "dual plated" clutch or something along the lines. Fun Factor: The car handles very well and can pass effectively without downshifting or bouncing off the rev-limiter since it has low-range torque unlike other cars in it's class. Not only is it fun to drive, the back seats fold down for plenty of storage space.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros

Sporty, agile and extremely fun to drive on curvy backroads and highways, great looks that always got stares whenever I went out, surprising room and cargo space, 30+mpg when driven lightly.

Cons

Dismal straight-line performance and passing power.  Watch for electrical glitches and bugs above 60-70k miles. People with bad backs beware--suspension is stiff.

A Great Little Car For The Money, Very Fun To Drive, Very Stylish, But Not Without Its Flaws. — Great styling inside and out. LOTS of content for a car of its price. was 16k new and came with a sunroof, power everything, cruise control, CD player and great factory speakers. everything seemed to be of really good quality construction. Despite its small size, room up front was really good and the hatchback design let it hold all of my music gear, and i have a lot. Factory sport seats were a great touch and very supportive. Drove 800 miles in 14 hours nearly non-stop, had hardly any complaints from my back and butt. Handling and braking, even being a base model and not the higher-performace GT, were excellent. Great backroad carver. Performance as far as power and speed were not so good. The 2.0L DOHC inline-4 got great gas mileage, but it could barely get out of its own way when it had to. Power just wasn't there. Due to its sporting nature, the ride was a little stiff. Older individuals or people who prefer a cushier ride might want to steer away from this vehicle as a daily driver. After 75,000 miles the car started developing some electrical problems. Driver's side window had a bad short in it. refused to roll up or down for the longest. Didn't have the money to take it to the dealer and get it fixed so it stayed that way until it just started working again one day. Problems persisted. Also, the blower switch for the fan had problems with the wiring. Wires must have been too small for the current being sent through it. i had to replace the entire switch unit due to it melting. Temporary fix only though, and a little expensive at that. Other than these electrical gremlins the car ran flawlessly. Good, solid vehicle, just watch the electicals when getting above 60k miles.

Pros

Good look, fun, quick, standard

Cons

Higher acceleration

65

Good Car Fun To Drive — Great performance, great look, not too expensive. :) Acceleration in higher gears leaves a little to be desired, but it's very quick and agile in the lower gears. I haven't had any problems with maintenance except with the E-Brake, but I think that's my fault.. haha. Gas mileage is great... like 30 or close to it on the highway. Leather, sun/moon roof, STANDARD!!!

Pros

6 speed, leather recaros, great looks

Cons

under powered, front wheel drive, bad stock clutch

55

2003 Tiburon Gt — Performance is lacking in the car. It's underpowered and front wheel drive. You gotta take it for what it is though. It can put you back in the seat and rips through the first 2 gears. It handles pretty damn good for a front wheel drive car. The build quality is eh. The clutch was a complete failure. The dual-mass flywheel fell apart after 45,000 miles which is no good. The rest of the car is fairly sturdy so far. The 6 speed manual is fun and kinda unique. It's definitely an eye catcher. You get looks everywhere you go. I have the Tuscani badges too and that throws some people. Overall it's a pretty bad ass car. You just gotta get a performance clutch to make it work the way it should.

Sporty Economical Car — Performance- Acceleration is good being a stick shift. Brakes are the bomb just like you would like them to be. Handling is also perfect while driving at high speeds or just cruising around town. Build Quality- This car has not needed repairs whatsoever. Cost of Ownership- gas mileage is awesome! Fun Factor- this car is fun to drive. Would recommmed this car to anyone with sporty desires.

Love My Tibby — I love the looks outside and in.. The only problem with the looks is the front bumper.. I cant wait to get the Angular one. Performance wise.. I don't know if its just age, But the suspension is a bit soft. Its a little bit lacking in mid range power for a 2.0 thats not rediculously heavy.. But it is decent on gas :) I love the car, and in the near future I have plans to fix her im perfections ;D

Good And Fun. Good Racer On A Budget/alternate To The Civic — it's a really good car for the money. kinda slow, but it looks good while it cruises past you, and the 6 speed is really fun. i kinda want to trade up for a genisis though just because they look better
