Minor build bugs that were worked out in later years, but you don't get the fun engine after 03.

2003 Honda S2000 — Just to point out, my S2000 is not stock. It has minor exhaust (Headers, Cat-Back exhaust), intake (Spoon Snorkel Kit), and Suspention (Strut tower bars, Coilovers) Modifications and this review is biased by them. Overall, this car is GREAT fun. The acceleration is ok until you hit VTEC (5800 rpms), then the thing FLYS to its 9k rpm revv limiter. 0-60 times just over 5 seconds. The steering is a touch on the light side, however it does have good feel. Braking is great, only minor fade on really sharp declines. The build quality is good, however there are somethings you need to look for. The covertable top framework had a rough spot near the passenger side hinge and eventually wore through the roof. The rear spoiler is held on by double sided tape. The side markers are also quite easy to break when replacing a bulb. Appearance... The car is sexy. End of Story. Great lines, and if you wanna trick it out, there is a pritty large aftermarket for it. Cost of Ownership isn't all that bad actually. If you're nice, it can get 22 mpg, pritty respectable for a car with 240 hp. Parts for it aren't real bad either, and most parts store carry equipment for them. Fun Factor... Yes... YES. If you can afford one for a summer play thing, get it. If you live in an area that doesn't get snow, DAILY DRIVE IT. You will smile every time you get out. With the current economy, you can find these used with good mileage for under 20k dollars. A steal in my book.

S2000 — The original S2000 represent over 40 years of Honda racing experience. The S2000 is based on the Honda SSM concept car that first appeared at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show. Using the same basic front-engine/rear-wheel-drive layout as the SSM, the S2000 captures the spirit of legendary high-performance sports cars of the past, as well as Honda's very first sports car, the S500. According to Honda, the company's racing heritage is reflected in every aspect of the S2000's design, performance and handling.

Cons

2003 S2000 — Pros: Excellent engine. If you keep it above 6000RPMs you will forget about the 153 pound-ft of torque. Pulls very nicely for another 3000RPMs. Sounds like a mini-racecar after 8000RPMs Transmission is the best feeling in the world for a production car. I have not tried Ferrari and Lambo trannies, but for a sub 200K car the S2000 is the best hands down. Everything else feels like garbage compared to an S2000 transmission. Build quality is typical Honda: excellent. The engine does burn more oil than your typical car, but it's to be expected from such a high-reving car. Throttle response is great and contributes to the ''racy'' feel of the S2000. The interior is not flashy but never feels cheap and everything is tightly screwed together. The S2000 will still look, feel and perform like a brand new car even after 5+ years of abusive ownership. The seating position is amazing, you truly sit close to the ground and have a great feeling of being right on top of the rear wheels. Steering response is excellent, lazer sharp. In fact after the transmission feel the steering and the way the car changes directions so quickly is something that really stands out. Reliability is outstanding on every aspect. Car is meant to be abused on a racetrack. Cons: Total lack of steering *feel*. The S2000 has great steering quickness-response, but it feels numb while doing so. You feel like you're holding the wheel of a play station video game. ABS kicks in way too early and disrupts what is a generally good braking system that has a nice firm braking pedal and good composure during hard braking. The car could use more horsepower because the chassiss-suspension can take it. The ride is extremely stiff compared to a Boxster S which handles just as well but doesn't punish your back while doing so. Gas mileage is very bad for a non turbo 2.0L engine, but hey it's got 240HP....

Best Sports Car Out There! — Incredible car and driving pleasure is phenomenal! The car is made for performance and luxury isnt top of the line but with the perforated leather and minor accents, its pretty good. I had the options of either a Z4, Boxster, SLK and TT and of the entire group the S2000 gave the best drive, handling and performance. Its a true car enthusiasts vehicle.

Tons Of Fun In The Sun! — This car is a must drive for any roadster enthusiast! It has great pep and an eye-catching look. It makes almost everyone do a double take and can keep up and take most cars off the line. Also an easy car to tune or dress-up.

Almost Bought This One, But I Didn't Have The Cheddar At The Time — It rides like its on rails....rails that can turn on a dime! Awesome, car that accelerates out of the gate and handles like a dream. For the money there is no better roadster in my opinion. It's like having your cake and eating it, too.

Pros

Supercar handling and performance, affordable price, decent gas mileage, lots of headroom even with the top up, looks like a mini Viper.

Cons

The sound system sucked and the ride was a little harsh. If you buy an S2000, replace the head unit at the very least, because the stock unit lacks an anti-skip feature.

Looks Like A Mini Dodge Viper And Handles Like One Too — My dad bought it used from Keenan Honda in Doylestown, PA on August 31, 2005, after he had been in the market for a BMW 3-series for a couple months. He changed his mind and it boiled to down to Chevrolet Corvette or Honda S2000. He test drove it and bought it all within a few hours. He was immediately impressed by the scalpel-sharp handling, powerful acceleration, and the aggressive appearance. The A/C in this little Honda was the coldest ever.
