Engin And Suspension — this civic is not a performance car .. have a good clutch start but the single overhead cam engine deliver a wors power rpm .. the suspension to smooth ,, the brake are good .. gaz millage is perfect , one of the best in this class .. so i thing a civic 2003 coupe whit the 1,7 (b17b) engine is a greate all around car . not a lot of power but is enought to have fun .. but is a great road travel car and perfect for a small famyllie .. the body look good , the inside too .. but like all honda car the body metal is not very tought my honda have a couple spot of rust on hood , all honda have this problem .. but nice car Primary Use: Family transportation

Doesn't Go Wrong — Very reliable, needs no special maintenance, just wish it went faster (only a 1.4L). 38MPG Loads of room inside for 4 big adults, 5 smaller ones at a push Bit boring to drive, and expensive to buy, but a good resale value. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosvery reliable and holds itd value Consdoesn't preform well in winter.

Yo — Great economical and sporty car. Only 500 built in Canada which makes it a rare car.The looks of the car is one of my favorite things about it, especially the interior. The dash is all black with carbon fiber around the air vents and center controls, the shifter is on the dash. The fronts seats are sporty and covered with a black suede material. Lots of leg and head room for passengers in the back seat and lots of storage space in the hatch with a 70/30 split folding seats. Not a very good winter car. I got stuck a few times in the deeper snow, but if you get a good set of winter tires you'll be fine.

ProsSporty looks (Type-R styling) low running costs, good build quality, great handling. Consspeed & bhp or lack of.

Honda Civic Sport 2003 — Not the best performance wise but in this sad country with the price of fuel and road tax becoming shocking it does for my shallow pockets. I wanted a Civic Type-R on a very small budget but the Civic Sport was the nex best thing. only major differences from the Type-R were the engine (1.6 rather than 2.0) the seats, boot spoiler & smaller wheels. but my own upgrades improved the standard Sport. build quality is great. much less plasticy inside than my prevous fords, much lower than most modern cars which leads to good handling.. but ive helped that with my own tweeks too. overall i love my car!..Type-R looks on a sensible budget!

ProsLow maintenance ConsUncomfortable for tall people

Utilitarian Eco-box — Inexpensive car to own. Not an engaging car to drive, it just goes from A to B and gets the job done. Not very comfortable for tall humans. Relatively easy to work on as far as mechanicals go. Wife likes the small size, I feel vulnerable in such a small cage. Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros$ per car ConsOverall car, reguardless of $

A Review — With 190K miles on the odo I put down $2.7K & ~$1.5K more to fix it. Iit gets me back and forth to work without making me feel improper (like the previous transport). Performance: When your frame of reference is other high mileage econo cars, the performance is better. Handling is far better, acceleration is somewhat better. Build Quality: At 190K miles, I'd say the build quality is excellent. Appearance: Snail iMAGED Cost of Ownership: Excellent, part of the reason I purchased. The first 1K miles netted me 27mpg with the o2 sensor still needing replacement. Fun Factor: 5 speed close ratio is definitely fun. But it desperately needs a 6th gear, which was addressed in 2006.

ProsVery reliable ConsNot performant.

Good Car For People Who Just Need A Car To Get From Point A To Point B. — Obviously this car isnt extremely performant, the acceleration and braking are mediocre at best, however i was pleasantly surprised by the handling on this car. I find that's the one reason that makes this fun to drive. The one thing I can't complain about for this car is its reliabiity. I haven't had to perform any repairs on this car other than regular upkeep. It does look like just any old car, it definitely doesn't stand out since there are thousands of them on the road. But all in all, its an inexpensive car that doesn't have very many hidden costs. Primary Use: Commuting to work

2003 Honda Civic Si Hatchback Review
ProsRoom, sound, performance, gas mileage. ConsNot as fast as it could be, transmission not the toughest.
35
Who Hates Hatchbacks, Anyway? — It's not screamingly fast, but it has a lot of pop and a lot of personality. It has a tendency to be a little sloppy in transition but it'll corner on 3 wheels and it's a far better handler than the tires I currently have installed. Why didn't Honda send us the Type R again? Power is pretty good, ~160 BHP, but it could use more factory power. Custom exhaust frees up the engine a little and sounds good and deep at the top end without being annoying. It fits a ton of gear in the hatch. Gas mileage is hovers between 31-32 MPG no matter how I drive.

ProsGood gas mileage, low insurance premiums, reliable. ConsShe could be more enticing to look at.

Affordable, Reliable Civic — I love my Civic. She's reliable, economical and she looks good too. She's not the fastest pony in the paddock but she can get me where I need to go when I need to got here. She didn't cost all that much and the insurance isn't bad. I think she's a really fun car. She's sitting at just around 50,000 miles and I got her when she had 10,000.
