ProsClearance ConsMilage & cold weather operation

Dakota Musings — The usual sloppy North American electrical work, not very good milage and poor brakes. It does get around the back country with high clearance and can haul a tonne of gear. Comfortable for long drives. Oil Filler & PC Valve System doe not work well @ -40 C in Saskatoon!

Gets Me To Work, But Its Really For Fun. — Just bought this Truck. I had a Jeep years ago and I have wanted a 4x4 again and got a deal on this one. It seems like a great value except fuel cost, but I didn't buy it for fuel economy. I need to find out what are the typical repairs above 100k Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prossideways Conspoor quality transmission, horrible fuel economy

Your Toy Can Be Your Daily Driver. — This truck is fast, fun, loud, durable, and reliable. Dash quality is poor. All of the air vents have cracked. Black paint quality is horrible. Clear-coat failure after 6 years of use. The transmission quality is poor. Shifts sometimes come funny, and after 130,000 miles it sometimes misses a gear when going downhill under full throttle abuse. However, still no failure. If your driving in the snow, forget it. Even after a summer rain, you might loose traction as the transmission shifts down a gear on the street. However, this is a double edged sword. On Dry pavement, the truck is a blast. It'is very controllable while drifting at low speed, and in stock trim, can sit at a stoplight and roast the tires until they fall off. Sounds great. Put 20,000 miles on it in 2010 alone, only changing oil, filters, and replacing rubber. Drove all over the states of Missouri and Illinois. It's a sleeper. There are so many Dakotas around. Despite my driving style, I have never gotten a speeding ticket in this truck. Looks great sitting on the stock 17s with a wide street tire. Handles better than a lot of cars. Ride is rough. It's still a truck, but don't hit anything with the plastic front bumper. The truck really takes on a personality, and anybody who has one loves it. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Like This Vehicle. Have Owned This For Over 2 Years. — This truck started out as a plain jane 2003 dodge dakota rt. Mods that have been made to this truck include new headlamps, tail lamps, Dale Jr. Octane wheels, Orange stripes, flowmaster exhaust system, Infinity sound system with 2 twelve inch Infinity Kappa Perfect subs. Panasonic Head unit. This vehicle is not as fast since the new wheels were installed. Primary Use: Family transportation

Lots Of Fun =) — Love this Truck, it's a lot of fun. So far the only thing I don't like is how you change the oil. It's a really dumb place to be and hard to change. Luv driving it. It was in pretty good condition for being as old as it is. It does suck gas and it has an exhaust system on it and a K & N filter on it so it gets better gas mileage. It sounds awesome when you rev it. Go MOPARS!

Sweet Little Truck — performance is great, throw you back in your seat torque, braking and headling where also excellent, no problems except for the exhasut hangers on aftermarket exhaust, apperance had the stock lip body kits, fuel milage was not great, fun factor excellent Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsIt is really fun to drive and still has the cargo room of a bigger truck. Cons2WD

Awesome Truck, Very Rugged And Can Take Some Abuse — THis is a great truck and I love driviing it. It has a lot of get up and go, about 40 dollars a week to fill the tank. Its really fun to drive and I love having this instead of a big gas hog and having a bigger truck than a little truck. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Bad Ass, Plain And Simple — Not the fastest truck on the block, but will run over most of the other ones. Rugged, loud, and pretty much just overall bad ass in every way. Gas mileage isn't great, but if I wanted good gas mileage, I would have bought a little Honda or something. Primary Use: Family transportation |
