Easy Point To Point Transportation...... — CHeap, reasonably reliable, good on snow, chunky fun to throw in corners at ridiculous speeds and see what happens, over-under...all in one hehe

Good Ol' Grandmamobile — I owned the 1.4l automatic transmission, XR trim version and all I can say is that it's a great ride for someone who's just beginning to learn to drive. It's almost too easy to handle this car. Never does something unexpected. It sucks big time performancewise, you could get out and run faster than it unfortunately. This is the biggest con of this vehicle other than it's being French. Build quality is so-so and has the appropriate little luxuries like A/C and power windows, remote keys etc. But don't expect much otherwise. Styling was very popular at the time and it still doesn't look bad after all those years.

Peugeot 206 — Good Points Steering is light and effortless. Hit the corners at a fair speed and the grib is superb. No lack of traction, holds the road confidently. This is a great fun little hatch with the joys of the GTi without all the costs! Bad Points The car has a tendancy to lack pre-3000 revs, although once it's got up to pace it's a great drive - Keep the gears low to start and don't short change and you get both a good acceleration and a great sound too! Only down point is it does rattle a lot and any bump in the road is amplified, however this is what you'd expect from any car with a sports suspension and doesn't detract from the overall comfort of the ride. General Comments I have now had my Peugeot 206 Gti for 18 months and I really still love it as much as I did in the showroom. My car really is a gorgeous looking hatch and both guys and girls agree. I have taken the car to a few cars shows and even against some of the more modded cars it holds it's own, especially when you consider it can do an impressive 13 second quarter-mile. In previous reviews I have read, people have commented on the uncomfortable driving position, however I completely disagree! All be it that I am a 5"8 (and a half!) but I have no problems in adjusting the seat and mirrors to the perfect position and the sports seats are comfy even on long journeys. If you are considering buying one of these models then I would definitely recommend. Having driven the new 1.4 sport, it really doesn't compare to the Gti styling and the sportier 2.0L engine.

Pros

Economy, handling, power/torque, design

Cons

Quite noisy on the speeds over 120km/h

Pocket Rocket — I've been driving this baby for two years now and I really have to say that it has been a smooth ride. On the performance side I really like the power this 2-litre engine gives. With 136hp this relatively light car moves quite nicely. So there's nothing wrong with the performance of the Peugeot 206 GTi. The best part however is the handling. Car responds to steering very nicely and the best place to drive this car is on an old country road where are lots of curves and short straigth parts. Appearance is also nice part of this car. Smooth shapes follow each other in the styling, both interior and exterior has nice finish. And I really like the seats on this car. Sport-style front seats finished with leather and alcantra brings a little luxury to my life :) Although the car has some kick under the hood, it's still quite economic. Only ~7 litres per 100km! There hasn't been any needs for repairs, so I really trust the french people in their "auto-craftmanship" :D Is the car fun to ride? It really is!! Recommended!

Pros

Cosy interior (especially the leather version), nice body design, very safe chassis and cabin (proven), ease of roof operation, smooth and polite handling, girl catcher :)

Cons

Not suitable for fun driving, skills needed if you loose your tail, noises from the roof when closed, some early models had roof leaking problems in the rain.

Peugeot 206 Cc — Bought this one in 2002, after being persuaded by my younger sis. I can't say that I really liked this one, it was stylish and with a nice black/red leather interor, aluminum pack and clima which boosted it's retailing price without really adding something to the car. Very comfortable for 2 persons, but having more people inside was a problem as the back seats are more decorative than functional, unless the person who sits at the back is 1m in height and about 30kg in weight. Opening and closing the roof was working smoothly, although the operating switch failed to work a couple of times (thankfully the roof was closed at those times). The handling was generally good, it remained on the tarmac and allowed you to do quick changes of direction without problem, even on high speeds and emergencies. The trouble with it was when you were loosing your tail, it needed skill and concentration to recover it, as it was heavy and a bit unbalanced (when on stock suspension) for fun driving. The 120bhp, 1.6lt engine was the same as the 106 GTi, but tuned more smoothly, without the kick of the latter. Nevertheless the 206cc would give you a top speed of nearly 200kph with the roof retracted and the side windows in their up position, if you could stand the wind noise at that speed. The good thing about the 206cc was that it attracted girls easier and if it happened that girl to be your passenger, it seemed to open the door to her... heart more easily ;) especially in summer time drives. The car has been totalled one evening by a wannabe drifter coming from the other side of the road who had lost his car completely and ended up with his front on my front. Luckily myself and a lady passenger survived without a scratch, but the car needed half it's purchase value to be repaired. Still it proved it's safety measures. A nice, polite, smooth and cosy car, well recommended for women!

Damn, Thats Hot! — Good - low / medium revs - design - dinamic stability Bad - hi revs - lack of intercooler - Lack of sixth gear Overall With an up-to-date design, this cars offers excellent price/quality relation, even though it lacks in quality in its interiors. Excellent choice for all purposes

Never Again — the only thing I liked about this car was the 1.4HDi engine that sucked op only 5liters of diesel in 100km. All the rest was rubbish. Water got in under the rear seat. Acceleration is poor. I needed to go often to the garage. the interior was not very stylish, but it didn't cost me much money, so I guess it's ok.
