2002 MINI Cooper Base Review
ProsWhen approaching a corner, one does not have to slow down! Unless something is in ones way and even then I can probably avoid it easily. It is slow in a straight line, but at least it gets 38mpg on the highway. Ours is completely set up for SCCA HS Solo1 competition, the fun factor is through the roof! ConsThere are a couple rattles that I am chasing down, but other than that honestly I can't find any negatives. The car is raced and as such should have a few rattles and quirks.

Base Cooper — It is the equivalent to an adult gokart, slotcar and motorized roller skate. Every time I drive it, it just makes me happy. Saying that about a 115 HP car after owning a Lightning, Several Mustangs and various other 300+ HP vehicles should tell you something about the MINI. It's just an amazing little car.

Small But Spirited — This car is like an oversized go-kart--great handling and good acceleration due to its light weight. Supercharged engine provides nice linear power response, six-speed Getrag manual is smooth as butter. The only thing i would change would be to decrease the stiffness of the clutch. Fast Fast Little Car — I wanted one of these since the day I saw the concept car in a magazine (in 6th grade social studies with Mr. Conmy) And thanks be to God I got a real John Cooper Works Mini Cooper S.. This car is seriously fast, its like riding a crotch rocket. It makes 200 HP at 7k RPM and a lot more torque. It has a 6 speed, JCW suspension and JCW brakes, bigger supercharger with a smaller pulley, dual exhaust, remapped ECU, polished heads, with reworked valves, etc etc etc... Really a race car with street legal bits added on... Buy one, you will love it I promise. | ||

My Experience With An Amazing Mini Cooper.. — You can do no wrong in this car. Best handling, most fun car on the road. Car is balanced with extreme handling, braking and power. If You're In The Market For A Small, Economic And Fun Car, This Is It — Performance: not exactly a fast car, however it makes up for its lack of speed through amazing handling. Build Quality: since the new MINI brand is owned by BMW, most of the parts apart from the engine are from BMW so in that aspect it's very good. the only problem I've ever had with this car is that at one point the power lock on the driver's side stopped working, this has been repaired however. Appearance: this MINI is in near mint condition both inside and out. the only signs of wear are a few scratches on the front of the car and a chip in the chrome where rocks have hit it. it is in a very exclusive color called velvet red which is very much like maroon. Cost of Ownership: this MINI is very nearly fully loaded. it even has the sport suspension. the only features it lacks are the navigation system and the sunroof. overall price was about $24,000. gas mileage is terrific, you get mid to high 20s in the city and low to mid 30s on the highway. Fun Factor: if you find a twisty road, there are very few cars which will offer the fun factor of a MINI. while the ride can be harsh in the city and on the highway, the stiff sport suspension makes sense when you feel how this thing corners. it's easily one of the most fun cars you can buy for the money. 2002 Mini Cooper Chili 1.6 — The initial experience from the dealership wasnt great. The car that arrived (after waiting nearly 3 months) was not the car that I ordered. The re-order arriced in 4 weeks ...go figure! Lights, exhaust, sterring wheel, trim were all replaced under warranty. The UK TLC service package (5 years serviceing for £100) was great...so no servicing bills for the 3 years I owned the car. Performance wasnt bad, Build quality wasnt great...for a BMW! Run Flat Tyres were expensive and a real pain to change as the tyre walls are so rigid, the Alloys were damaged when the tyres were replaced Very entertaining to drive. Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

Mini Cooper S "mr. S" — I love everything about my car!!!!!!!!! It handles like a dream and is decent on speed. Also great gas mileage. This insurance is super cheap since it has a 5 star crash test rating. Its just an all around awesome car for looks and performance the best in my opinion. | ||

Mini Cooper — MINI rocks, but gotta have cash to maintain it .So if you are wealthy and can afford a MINI. BUY at least 3 of them! So fun to drive . I have taken mine 16 hours into Mexico 3 times. I have been to Cali and Vegas countless times and love my car. except maintenance has been uber expensive and right now it is in the shop which has cost me 3 grand already and still counting. I would rather eat ramen noodles than give it up though. | ||

Perfect Car For 1-2 People — great car for running around places...also great on the highway...very solid and stable...turns on a dime...plenty of power to stay out of trouble...can park where others can't which is great for going to special events and such...not a car to have if you do not want people asking you how much you like it...not for everyone but the car I have wanted for 40 yrs...super stereo...perfect little bubble for traffic jams... |
