Pros

When approaching a corner, one does not have to slow down! Unless something is in ones way and even then I can probably avoid it easily. It is slow in a straight line, but at least it gets 38mpg on the highway. Ours is completely set up for SCCA HS Solo1 competition, the fun factor is through the roof!

Cons

There are a couple rattles that I am chasing down, but other than that honestly I can't find any negatives. The car is raced and as such should have a few rattles and quirks.

Base Cooper — It is the equivalent to an adult gokart, slotcar and motorized roller skate. Every time I drive it, it just makes me happy. Saying that about a 115 HP car after owning a Lightning, Several Mustangs and various other 300+ HP vehicles should tell you something about the MINI. It's just an amazing little car.

Pros

The Cooper is a very maneuverable, fun to drive car. 2002 S Model is supercharged as opposed to turbo (Approximately 163 HP as opposed to 139). Responsiveness of car is quick and lives up to its ancestor, overall, the car is very fast and zippy...perfect for city driving! Braking is instant, sometimes you can peel out on gravel but recovery time is fast thanks to the Automatic Stability Control feature (can turn on for adverse weather or it will come on according to need). Good gas mileage (28+/- in city) and ACTUALLY fantastic gas mileage on the HWY (35mpg!). Also, contrary to popular belief, there is a lot of head and...foot room...well foot room as long as you're in the front seats!

Cons

Kind of a rough ride, leather bucket seats in S model don't leave a lot for back support, which is fine for city driving, not so much for long trips! Low wheel base and front wheel drive give the Cooper great handling capability in adverse weather conditions. Kind of pricy to maintain but it's definitely worth it!

Turned Me Into A Cooper Driver For Life... — I like the overall sports car feel, even the owner's manual says the driver's seat is, "the cockpit." -VERY true I have to say, its bucket seats and easily accessible controls and easy to see monitors make this car feel like it's folding around you. When that supercharger kicks in you sit deeply in the seats. My only complaint thus far is the issue (seems to be common with 2005 models and earlier) with the BCM and water getting into the module. This can lead to costly repairs if not complete module failures. I've experienced a couple issues with water leakage, but honestly those issue(s) paled in comparison to all the things that I truly enjoy about it.

Pros

Fun to drive

Cons

Odd interior proportions

Small But Spirited — This car is like an oversized go-kart--great handling and good acceleration due to its light weight. Supercharged engine provides nice linear power response, six-speed Getrag manual is smooth as butter. The only thing i would change would be to decrease the stiffness of the clutch.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

The driving experience is amazing!!!  it eye-catching, retro and modern at the same time!!  Getting relatively high fuel efficiency from a car that such a joy to drive is one of it's best selling points.

Cons

a small car, but the exterior size is somewhat misleading as the interior room is fairly spacious for the average six-footer on our staff

My Experience With An Amazing Mini Cooper.. — You can do no wrong in this car. Best handling, most fun car on the road. Car is balanced with extreme handling, braking and power. And this one in particular is a very reliable car, you will have a blast driving it as much as I do!

Pros

Fast, Fast, Fast, Nimble, Cheap thrills

Cons

YOU WILL NEVER GET 35MPG BECAUSE DRIVING IT LIKE A HOOLIGAN IS WAY TOO MUCH FUN

Fast Fast Little Car — I wanted one of these since the day I saw the concept car in a magazine (in 6th grade social studies with Mr. Conmy) And thanks be to God I got a real John Cooper Works Mini Cooper S.. This car is seriously fast, its like riding a crotch rocket. It makes 200 HP at 7k RPM and a lot more torque. It has a 6 speed, JCW suspension and JCW brakes, bigger supercharger with a smaller pulley, dual exhaust, remapped ECU, polished heads, with reworked valves, etc etc etc... Really a race car with street legal bits added on... Buy one, you will love it I promise.

Pros

traffic, parking, mpg, handling, view, not too common, 20,000 posible combinations to order, just neat little car...

Cons

back seat space...small people and car seats only...lol...

Perfect Car For 1-2 People — great car for running around places...also great on the highway...very solid and stable...turns on a dime...plenty of power to stay out of trouble...can park where others can't which is great for going to special events and such...not a car to have if you do not want people asking you how much you like it...not for everyone but the car I have wanted for 40 yrs...super stereo...perfect little bubble for traffic jams...

Go See Italian Job — Although car is small, the interior seems surprisingly spacious given the ample head room and upright windshield. Preventive maintenance, e.g. all fluid change, replace worn bushings, is a must! With a few modifications, the Cooper S can be transformed to a fun, fast and comfortable daily driver. I recommend installing the 15% reduced pulley ($100), replacing the factory run-flats with regular tires ($500), and installing beefier rear anti sway bar like 19mm from Alta ($150).

Cute Mini Hatchback — The MINI Cooper is a great car for the money. It is reliable and fun to drive. Heads turn when you drive because it sparkles. The engine is made by BMW, so it's quality. The seats are comfortable and most of the MINIs are leather and heated seats.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
