Rodeo Has Been Great — We bought this Rodeo brand new in 2002 with 10 year 120k warranty. Isuzu has stood behind the warranty with flying colors! New motor at 53k miles (bolt broke off, motor didnt blow up) New hood at approx 80k miles (rusting on front edge from underneath) and a new transmission at 120,397 miles. Yes! They warrantied the transmission 400 miles past warranty. The people at Isuzu are great and I have called and thanked them so much for all they've done. This truck looks nice and has always been reliable. We take care of our cars, and you cant tell it's an 8 year old truck at all. I would buy another in a heartbeat; too bad they no longer sell here in the USA. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsTowing ConsIts an SUV

Isuzu Rodeo — Like any SUV out there slow off the line but can tow some. It was repaired for the back door being loose and the transmission leaked. Like any SUV built for short rides to and from. Would not drive for more than 2 hours. Gas mileage is good and easy to maintain. Not what I would call fun to drive. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsTough ConsHard on Gas like any 4X4

Rodeo Baby — Good looking tough 4X4, based on a pick-up chassis so it has a full frame and with Honda power 3.5 lit Honda engine. A great combo with a comfortable ride and pleasant interior. Mine has the brush bar package with the window visors and the taillight protectors. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsSolid build. excellent fuel economy ConsUnderpowered.

2002 Isuzu Rodeo S. 4-cyl. 5-sp 2wd — The 4-cyl S model is underpowered. A solid build, while comforting, does result in more weight than the 130hp engine can easily move. Only advantage is that the fuel economy, when mated with a 5-speed, increases significantly. I get 28-32 mpg when driving normally.

Turbo Diesel Dual Cab Ute — 3.0 Turbo Intercooled Diesel, Electronic Injection, 4wd ute. very easy to drive on road, fine off road in sand and mild rock work, would not recommend it for harder rock driving, decent amounts of power on tap but not able to match petrol engines, but will pull for an eternity, relatively difficult to stall when off road in adverse conditions, the interior had good clean lines with comfy seats and an easy to read instrument panel, gearbox was relatively slick for a work oriented vehicle. gear ratios were directed towards load carrying... |
