Clean — I like this car because it has a lot of power horses and it is big enough for my family. We travelled a lot and we really feel safe. The only negative that I can find is the fuel consomation.

It Is A Ford Dont Expect Much — Very nice truck ,very bad in gas mileage already three transmissions 8 wheel bearings ,three window regulators ,two alternators rides very nice, like new has a third row which is very convenient when people come and visit .Maintenance is not bad unless you need major work.

Pros

Relatively inexpensive, until you get about 150k miles.

Cons

Transmissions design is terrible! Sealed, so you cant check it, etc. Rear hatch has a piece of plastic that is glued to the glass, thus it cant expand/contract, leading to it cracking near the emblem. Costs $300-400 to replace. Fire this designer...

Decent Overall, But Poor Designs And Unresponsive Manufacturer Will Keep Me Away From Another. — See above... Trans is terrible, braking system is overloaded, and it eats rotors. Rear hatch plastic parts are terrible design, and Ford does not care. 4x4 is very harsh drive. Suspension is the roughest thing I have experienced since US Army hauled me in a deuce and half!

Well Built — Chloe is a great part of the family! She is always there when we need her to be... usually right where we left her too! She was a great vehicle when we first started having children, but now that we have 4 kids... she's getting a bit cramped! Could use an upgrade to her cousin the Expedition!

Satisfied With Safety And Performance. — Lots of family and cargo room. I purchased the vehicle in 2008, it had over 120,000 miles on it from a one owner elderly lady who's husband took excellent care of it. It has appx. 187k now and has only had regular maintenance other than the security system issue, A/C - heater blower motor, and one other minor fix to stop mice from entering and exiting...in this model, all they have to do is find it (as they did mine) and they wont stop until it is fixed ( I tore mine apart looking for it).

Suv At It's Finest. — Ford has the ultimate SUV in the Ford Explorer. That is why year in and year out... It is one of the best selling cars in the world. I highly recommend it to everyone I know. Hoping Ford keeps up the good work.

Pros

Great ride, tight steering, independent suspension w/little body roll, hauls good, great in snow & mud, comfortable, V-8 good power, great high & low 4x4 system, shift 4x4 on the fly,  brakes are great even with a load behind you, no over - steer.

Cons

One negative has been some have transmission issues that can be costly. Change your tranny fluid and filter every 36K ($90.)  If you have it rebuilt take the 3 - year 36K warranty you don't want to pass on it, trust me.

MPG is not nice: 13 city stop & go, 17-18 hwy. But if MPG is what you want you don't want a SUV full size. In my opinion the explorer is the best of the full size. But cost to run them is high keep that in mind.

Great Vehicle Other Than Possible Tranny Problem. — Great ride, tight steering, independent suspension w/little body roll, hauls good, great in snow & mud, comfortable, V-8 good power, great high & low 4x4 system, shift 4x4 on the fly, brakes are great even with a load behind you, solid feel on the road, smooth shifting even under load, good sight from drivers seat, seat adjust great with memory, seats fold up for hauling bigger items, in and out of it is nice better than my car. "Great Vehicle".

Main reason I have this vehicle is ex-spouse wouldn't take it

Cons

Reason to avoid this particular car, it guzzle the gas like water.

Would Be Okay If It Was A Had A Smaller Engine And The Previous Owner Took Better Care Of It — Don't like the fact it's a gas guzzler. Drives well, but too many mechanical problems after only having the vehicle two and half years (one small problem after another). Haven't had any extremely major problems. Overall like the truck since it's my first, but think I'll go with something other than a ford next time (now that i'm experience in driving suv). like the feeling of high riders.
