Big Mistake — This car is not worth your time. I engine replaced in 08 at 69,000 with new alternator. Alternator went out 1 yr later, trans about to go. Put more money into it then what i owe on it. Ford will not stand behind there car. Never will by a FORD AGAIN.

Pros

Reliable, affordable, adequate room in backseat, good gas mileage, lots of cargo space when the seats fold down

Cons

Nothing spectacular or sporty about the handling; interior materials could be of a higher quality

Affordable, Reliable Mid-size Suv — We are the second owners of our Escape. At 118,000 miles, we have not invested more than $500 in normal repairs for wear and tear. The gas mileage is pretty good and the V6 engine is 'peppy'. It handles "average"; not sporty. Great smaller SUV for those who want something reliable and safe, that won't break your bank account.

My 02 Escape :) — Wonderful Truck. I Love My Vehicle. It Gets Great Gas Mileage. I Love The Speed & Performance. I Prefer This Over Its Predecessors The Mazda Tribute & Mercury Mariner. It Is An Amazing Car To Drive & Everyone Should Get One Right Now.!! :)

Pros

Great price on pre-owned ones.  Very safe.  Has good reviews on the powertrain. Easy automatic 4WD.

Cons

Low resale value.  Not as gas efficient as I'd like. Ford stopped making a lot of its replacement parts - like trim, interior colored pieces, etc.

Safe, Fun, Affordable, Functional And Nice Looking — A pretty good small SUV overall. Could have better gas mileage, but for 4WD, not bad. On recommendation of a friend, I stuck a K&N high air flow filter in there for improved mpg. It did help - maybe adding another 1 mile mpg. I like that it is high off the ground, but not too high so that an elderly passenger can't get in. Wish there was a wee bit more clearance from top to bottom interior on the hatchback with rear seats folded down.

Pros

Very sturdy reliable vehicle for winter driving conditions. Has come in handy for light towing.

Cons

Wish the gas mileage was a little better, but it's not bad for a V6 engine I suppose.

A Decent Small Suv — We bought our Escape new back in 2002. It now has almost 300,000 km on it (yes we drive a lot!!). For the amount of miles we have put on this vehicle it has stood up well, and I have no major complaints. The only chronic issue seems to be with the brakes. Despite putting mostly highway miles on it, we have experienced a lot of seemingly premature brake wear - maintenance and replacement of brakes on this thing is expensive! I think have put at least 3 of the car dealer's kids through university on brake work alone!

The Gas Mileage was Fantastic, and this Car has a ton of GO.

Cons

The front driver and passenger seats were extremely uncomfortable to sit in for an extended period of time.

Great Car — This Vehicle was GREAT on Gas, even with the 3.0L V6. I was getting on average about 20-21 miles to the gallon (Depending on how I drove)

Cons

My Excape Of Pleasure — This vehicle is very sharp and popular with the color. It is solid in the handling and never had any hints of it tipping, the upkeep is simple as long as you do regular ooil changes and tires. this car can go up the beech easily and travel for hundreds of miles without any problems.

A Great Little Suv That Is More Like A Truck. — good little SUV. Excellent in the snow. Is a truck and handles like one - rather than a sportscar. Well built, no body issues. Had some water leakage on the insude which took some time to figure out and ended up the liner had pulled away from the door frame. Nice looking truck and well thought out on the inside. We really like it.

Pros

Feels like it will go forever.

Cons

Not too big, Explorer would be better

Good Family 4wd Car — Wanted to get a 4WD for the winter and the wife wanted a Jeep but Ford Escape had better ride quality and Explorer was too big. Good car overall, nothing brilliant, but nothing bad, cheap on gas, good visibility, comfy on long journeys.
