ProsQuick, good gas milage ConsCan't do things rear wheel and all wheel drive can.

Yeah — Acura RSX type S. The interior is nice, S models have the leather, 6 disc in dash, back-lit red gauges. 6 speed transmission is slick, read in a magazine that it's "one of the best gear boxes in the world". Quick and agile for a front wheel drive. Very little maintenance even though it's rev limiter is 8400RPM. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosquick, tons of room for sports car, good on gas (if you want) Consonly prem. gas = a little extra $, could be an inch or two lower

Fast But Good For Everyday — Great quality and never needs work. Love the iV-Tech at the high end of the RPM's but don't have to guzzle gas if you don't want to use it for everyday. It's a ton of fun to drive, and even with a heavy load (which it carries a ton of stuff for a sports car) it performs well. Have owned faster and flashy (new RX-8 recently) but sold them and will NOT dream of selling this one. Fast, but not a cop magnet. Happy over 90, but a little light for over 100...though it will do it for you all day long. Best discribed as very quick and fun on curves, but not a long haul brute of a power car. Don't bother with the non-Type S they are a waste if you ask me, it loses the quickness. I gutted the standard stereo system, but that is because of taste not due to lack of quality.

ProsTelepathic steering and maneuverability ConsAnemic torque

Acura's Should Never Have Dropped This Car — Everything came standard on the Type-S, with no options really to be had. The car is telepathic in terms of communicating the road through the steering wheel and seat. You can feel the friction and contact patch on each individual tire. Off the line is a decent start, but top end is lacking due to the 4 cylinder engine. You can whip this car through an autocross course beautifully. Lots of trunk space and front wheel drive makes this car more practical all year round than one would initially think.

ProsCornering, I-Vtec, Power, Looks, MPG ConsTransmission

02 Rsx Type S — I love the overall feel of the car, but the tranny on it has a ton of defects, and they have to be delt with before you can really tear into it. The cornering is better than any car I have driven so far but the back end seem to get away from you around 65 ish. When the I-Vtec kicks in at 6,000 RPM and takes you to red line (8,200) the car really comes alive! T he Bose sound system is awesome and you get all of this with out sacrificing MPG (29 in town, 36 Highway)

Prossexy body style Consnot as fast as it looks

Good For Daily Use — Its a fun little car. 200hp but little drag when the a/c is on. Grips the road on turns. Sleek body style. However I'm disappointed with the leather seats up front. They dont hold well and tend to rip Primary Use: Commuting to work

Fun Car — Nice pocket rocket for city drive. Good on mileage, 2L vtec engine is good on customization but I like to stick to stock. Good for two people, never used the back row seats. No good for the second row any ways. I love the body line cues. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Ideal First Car, Great All Around Coupe. — light weight, tight handling, responsive 2.0L engine, aesthetics, spacious front seats, easy to maintain, ridiculously good gas mileage, six speed transmission is sporty and adds to the experience. Overall, a solid car thats quick and fun to drive around town and on highway. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prospeformance, handling, fun Consnone

Acura Has Done A Great Job In Producing A Sports Car For Its Make. — The RSX has great acceleration, ok breaking and the handeling is nothing to complain about. Simple repairs and minor adjustments have been made over the coarse of me owning the car. I have changed the exterior to somewhat replicate the ITR model in Japan. I have also changed the front end to an 05-06 model front end.

ProsStyle and interior. ConsNot enough torque.

2002 Acura Rsx Type-s — This badass Acura has 200 hp to the engine and 142 ft lbs of torque with 60K miles on it. The style is great and the interior has a awesome look! There are endless upgrades you can do to this car. Just becareful what you put on and how you do it because it could lead to some mechanical problems. The car is very fun to drive and is good on gas. Usually my tank lasts about 2 weeks and I get about 300 miles to the tank. I would recommend this car to anyone that wants something reliable but still has a sporty look/feel. |
