ProsIt's extremely reliable ConsIt's not exactly a speedster

Toyota Tacoma — Super reliable, runs like new, slow, but the four wheel drive works great. It still looks almost new. No rust what so ever. Cold air conditioning, every power option works like new. Runs smooth and quiet. I would definitely buy another one Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosgas mileage, reliability ConsPower

My Most Practical Vehicle Yet — Rock solid, reliable, and decent gas mileage (with the 2.7L)! I've had this truck for a few years now and have taken it on some serious off roading with no real problems. If it's good enough for the Taliban it's good enough for my Minnesota excursions! Primary Use: Family transportation

Prosit is a really nice truck Consno power cause it is a 4 cylinder

It Is An Overall Really Good Truck And Really Reliable — not that much power cause it is a 4 cylinder. it has great breaks. it has not needed any repairs. the appearance is really, all my friends all want it. it is not that much to own it. it has a 16 gallon tank and gets 20 miles to the gallon. it is a really fun truck to drive

My Toyota Tacoma — 3.4L V-6 with 5 speed manual. its a 4x4. the truck has awesome power and can get itself outta any situation i put it in. its lifted 2.5 inches up front and 2 in the back. DIR coil over kit with upper control arms and deaver springs with bilistin shocks out back. it has a 32 inch mud terrain on it and also has magnaflow exhaust. all in all i love this truck and its by far one of the best trucks i have driven so far.

Prospractical, decent mileage, pretty fun to drive, excellent build quality, low cost of ownership Consnot a real strong top end, smallish back seat, smallish bed, vague steering feel

2001 Toyota Tacoma 4 Door Prerunner V6 Sr5 — I love that it's a pickup and it's got 4 doors. It had a decent sound system stock, and I've upgraded i somet. I would like a little more power and/or another gear or two, it's only a 4-speed. I would love for it to be a manual transmission. It's pretty sprightly, but the top end is a little lacking. Build quality is great. It's a Toyota, so that's all that needs to be said about that. It looks pretty good, I could stand some bigger tires, but stock work just fine. I've added chrome nerf bars, and will eventually get a grille guard and a Ranch Hand rear bumper. It gets pretty decent gas mileage, I usually end up with about 16 mpg, but I don't drive very conservatively. Hwy mileage is super if you don't exceed 60-65. It goes downhill fairly quickly over 70. The fuel tank is not huge, so highway range is 320-350 miles at around 70 mph. Slower=farther Maintenance cost is average, tire rotation, oil change and all that cost the average for the region. As far as the fun factor goes, it's not too bad. It'll accelerate quick enough if you hit the throttle right, and the steering is light, but a little vague. It will handle quick maneuvers well, as long as they're not extreme. I would definitely recommend this vehicle for anyone that is looking for a very practical, fun to drive (for a pickup) truck.

ProsLots of Power, Good on Gas ConsRough Ride
25
Awesome — A little rough, due to an extra Leaf Spring with the TRD package, but a new suspension will end that problem. I also wish that there was a little bit more room in the Extra Cab model. Besides that I love it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid truck that has a good MPG rating.

ProsUtility, Gas mileage, off-road capability, comfort, good stereo, reliability, fun to drive, worth every penny and has a top-notch resale value! ConsRear jum seats could be more comfortable and easier to access, wind and road noise excessive, 4cyl engine is buzzy/load at 3,000 rpm.

This Truck Can Do It All! — Can't say enough good stuff about this truck. I've got the versatility of a full-size rig, with the fuel mileage and handling of a compact truck. I don't tow or haul excessively heavy loads, so a 4cyl is a perfect fit. With the cap on the back I've got a mobile base for long distance road trips. In a year of ownership I've only needed routine maintenance, I get 25mpg on the highway and 20 in the city, and this truck is actually fun to drive. 4-wheel drive is capable, accelleration is better than I expected, but after a year I would not complain about more low-end tourque. My only negative remarks come from small rear seats and a buzzy engine at highway speeds - these are not exclusive to the tacoma in general, but it's still a gripe non-the less |
