2001 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4WD Review
ProsSpace ConsIt is huge, so consider tight garage spaces, etc. before you buy.

Love It — Totally reliable, spacious SUV that has been a perfect car for our family of five. Easily fit three car seats across the middle row when our girls were babies, which was our primary reason for buying it in the beginning. Offers a comfortable third row and still allows storage in the back. My only complaint is that I wish the third row seats could tuck away better -- possible newer models offer this. Update: the latch on our back hatch has broken twice since we've owned this, which has been an annoyingly expensive fix both times. The back hatch, which opens up, is actually very heavy too -- kind of a pain. Primary Use: Family transportation

Typical Toyota...low Maintenance And Reliable — I bought the Sequoia for family trips and snow days. Handles great in the snow! Tons of room. Comfortable. Easy to maintain. Really just needs oil changes! Gets about 16 mpg. 154k odo...never any issues. Truly reliable with minimal maintenance! Primary Use: Family transportation

If You Want A Nice Family Suv This Is A Great One. — It is a great family car, its 4 wheel drive aint the best but its ok for just snow or a little mud. It is comfortable, but trim is put on cheaply. It is pretty good looking for a suv. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsToyota and large Consgas and performance

Good For What It Was Meant For — Not quite the bulletproof Toyota that I had expected, but it's big enough for anything and gas isn't that bad. Not a racecar! It's great on the interstate, and handles well for its size. Used ones are cheap! Made in Japan is better, but that's called Lexus. Primary Use: Commuting to work

The Supra! — THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED! I know the head-gasket breaks all time, I know the sawblades are horrible looking but overall I loved every single day of owning this car and if was not leaving the country, the world can dream of the day I sell this amazing supra.

Great Car, Would Recommend. Toyota Sequoia Sr5. — 8 full size seats 2:3:3 great off road small engine (4.7L) for its size Good MPG for size It can drive on 2WD to save on gasoline, or be electronically moved to 4WD for those times in the snow and ice where you need the extra grip and fr real off road adventures. i.e. it is not 4WD all the time. Also, when in 4WD you can move to low ratio gears as a manual gearbox.

ProsStyling, power, spacious seating ConsPoor build quality for the price, many little accessories broken easily

The First Year Of A New Design Is Usually A Learning Year, Beware. — Purchased from a private owner with 120,000 miles. The dealer had installed a new engine after a mechanic did not tighten the oil drain plug and all of the oil came out going down the highway. This resulted in the usual engine damage. After only a few thousand miles of my own, the transmission went out. This suv was driven by a soccer mom, never any towing. Since then both exhust mainfolds were replaced with aftermarket headers due to leaks. And now the check engine light stays on saying trans problem!! The trans shop cannot find a problem. Lesson learned. Also, the speakers in the front doors have broken.
