Pros

Great reliability, and more back seat room than any other car in its class.

Cons

Get the V6.

Doesn't Try To Be Something It Isn't And Does A Great Job At Doing What It Was Built For. — The Camry is a great family car. We got this one used, with about 53,000 miles on it. It now has just over 140,000 miles. We have the 4 cylinder model, and this is my main complaint with the car. From a standing start you would be hard pressed to pass an antique VW Minibus, but on the highway it will claw its way from 55 to 80 in nothing flat. That little 4 banger makes really good power once it has some RPM behind it. It has been VERY reliable and has only recently started showing some signs of age. I had to replace a door handle and a window regulator, and we had to have a fuel pressure valve replaced by the guys at Toyota Techs.

Pros

it's a car made for you not to care if it breaks .. you should just drive

Cons

breaks were horrible

If You Want A Car That Doesn't Break .. It's The One — was the right car for when I bought it since I didn't want a new car .. didn't need much of repair and had a good acceleration and really smooth when changing lane and passing cars ;-) .. had all I needed when i bought it JPL sound system with a CD

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Free oil change with the right dealership , adequate passenger room

Cons

Very vanilla, sedated disconnected driving feel - similar to everything in the toyota/lexus stable/.

4-wheel Wash Machine — Overall the camry is as basic as a household appliance. Material and craftmanship was below par. Camry's in the past that I have owned had better materials and quality. Sheet metal is cheap and random fuses such as aigbags will go on for no reason what-so-ever.

Cons

its just old so things are starting to wear but its not really negative in nature

Fernando The Toyota Camry — Acceleration for a 2001 model is awesome it feels like it actually has some power for a 4 cyl. unfortunately the look of the car looks like every other import - but it does look nice - Gallery Edition so it has the two toned paint job and trim... nice lookin ride!

Pros

Smooth driving, gas efficiency, comfortable seating

Cons

Repairs...costly

Toyota Camry...a Nice, Solid Car — It's a very reliable car. Perfect for long-distance travel. Been to Florida with it and loved it. Problem...recent repairs have been costly...probably due to mileage...hopefully, last repairs for a long time... Had old 1992 Camry for 12 years...298,000+!!! Best car I ever drove, period...

Pros

pretty good on gas, handles great, has great pick up, comfy

Cons

the clutch is too tight but that's Dad's fault!

Love It! — Handles great when Dad actually gets his work done (it needs new brakes and a new air filter along with a lot of other stuff!), pretty good on gas when I drive (not Dad), comfy for the family, actually fits all our hockey gear in it comfortably, and a smooth ride.

Pros

Reliable, no cheesy interior that falls down, has never broken down.....knock on wood. Saves gas...especially good nowadays

Cons

Acceleration, normal features

Standard Car — Mundane, gets me to where I need to go. Somehow more powerful at 5 years than when it was new.

A Good Design, But Terrible Execution — The 2001 Toyota Camry is below average at best. Acceleration with the four-cylinder and automatic transmission is pathetic, taking two minutes to go from 0-60. The brakes will be tight for three days, they will loosen for two weeks, and then come back tight. The Camry is a nonstop money pit. We have replaced the lower control arms, the driver's door fuse, oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, oil pump, fuel pump, battery, and tires. A plethora of platic pieces have also broken off of the interior. It only has 94,000 miles. The interior of the car is ugly but functional- at least what is still there. The outside of the car looks dorky in the back, the profile is blah, and the fron is okay, but the six-point hub caps look like flowers and are incredibly hideous. With only gas and maintenance, the Camry has cost $.23 a mile to run. My Taurus, again with only gas and maintenance, costed $.08. The car is not fun to drive; I find it a chore. The seats are too low to the floor and there is not enough headroom. The bottoms of the seats are flat, the seatbacks are shaped like spoons, and the back seat has zero leg room. The Camry is extremely lou on the freeway, much more so than my last V6 Taurus.
