2001 Mazda Tribute ES V6 Review
ProsRare color and package, Sport tuned suspension, great acceleration, and overall good looking ConsBad gas mileage, alot of plastic parts break, Mazda service is way overpriced

The Green Machine — The car is really nice for what it is, for one the color (Jewel Green Metallic) is very rare and I have only seen a handful anywhere. The leather seats are a pain to deal with since they are showing some age and all. The engine itself is powerful but you sacrifice a lot of MPG's especially in an urban setting like Houston. The car fun to drive in curving or winding roads due to it's fairly large engine and tight suspension. The turning radius and relatively small size makes it much easier to handle in tight places such as parking lots. My Mazda has been a great first car, and I believe that if I had gotten any other vehicle I would have probably wrecked it because this SUV has limited blind spots and is high enough off the ground that someone can definately see all of their surroundings. This car is great first car for a teenager. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsGreat on road and off road performance. ConsA bit fuel hungry

Great Car To Drive. — Great car, very gutsy, but V6 is a bit thirsty. Surprisingly good offroad too. Excellent acceleration. Built extremely well, never had any problems. Internal leather and woodgrain dash are really nice. The car is great fun to drive, always enjoy it. Primary Use: Family transportation

2001 Mazda Tribute ES V6 Review
ProsOur Tribute held up for years and years and is now Zoom Zooming for an excited new owner tonight! It was fun to drive - for all 240,000+ miles, dependable, and always felt like a fancier car to us than for what we paid. ConsThe alternator is in a tough spot, but ours ended up OK for 11 years and going. The ride was pretty noisy compared to other vehicles in which we've been, and the sunroof and rear window hydraulic lift thingy got a little sketchy there toward the end of our ownership.

Zoom Zoom! — We're glad to have owned this SUV. There were some minor issues over the years, but even with our on-again off-again maintenance philosophy, the Tribute seemed to hold up well -- better than any other car we've had (including two Honda Civics and a Nissan Sentra). It made road-trips more fun; a bit sad to say good-bye! ;) Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsReliability, low maintenance, ease of handling, appearance Consnoisy, stiff ride

Very Satisfied With My Purchase — This car has 133K + miles and still runs great. It's withstood the pressures of 3 different teenaged drivers so far and hasn't let anyone down yet. Its age is starting to show - can be a bit temperamental starting on really cold, rainy days if left outside overnight. But it has held up really well considering all that it's been through. I've had the transmission rebuilt once.

ProsThis SUV handles great, plenty of horsepower and stopping power. Love all the space in the cargo area, and has enough room for 4-5 people to sit comfortably. ConsGAS MILEAGE! UGH! To be fair, my Tribute is almost 12 years old, so I expected the efficiency to drop a bit. I'm currently averaging about 16 mpg, if I'm really careful with the accelerator. I drive mostly in town. On the interstate I've had it up to 21 mpg, but I was only driving 60 mph.

2001 Mazda Tribute Lx — I gave this car 3 stars overall only because of the awful mpg. It has been a great car otherwise, very dependable. Maintenance is a little high because I put good tires on it, but that is only personal preference. It handles very well and has plenty of room for my family of 4. The V6 provides plenty of power but I have to be very careful with the accelerator so as not to waste fuel. Primary Use: Commuting to work

2001 Mazda Tribute DX V6 Review
ProsExtremly powerful vehicle with stylish looks. Lots of room for the whole family and handles great in all kinds of weather. I can't say enough how reliable and dependable this vehicle has been and the overall cost of maintnance has been fantastic. this car has been paying ME back for years! ConsI wish it had a bit better gas mileage but overall it's accepatable with the V6 engine.

Rugged Dependability With Very Stylish Looks!! — For an SUV this vehicle has been extremely reliable with an amazingly lower cost of maintenance and ownership. Have not had to make any major repairs to this vehicle other than preventative maintenace. It is extremly powerful for a V6 with alot of "giddyup" and great handling. would buy another in a second!! Pros4 wheel drive is great for winter driving Consbrakes are not good

No Bottom Line — I like the car, but the brakes are not good. The dealer told me it had ABS, but it does not even have good brakes. I've hit a telephone pole once and almost a car in front of me just because it wouldn't stop. There's nothing wrong with the ones that are on it, they just don't stop the vehicle, I have to make sure to slow down long before I get ready to stop. Otherwise I really like it. Prosreliable and ease of driving Consif long distance tavel small fuel tank is a problem

Love It — Nice to drive local or highway 2 times a year we travel accross Australia to Perth round trip from Adelaide about 6000km never had any form of trouble even in 45deg C.or about 110 F. only down side of the Tribute is the small fuel tank out on the paddock service stations are at least 160km apart and in places 250km. with only a 60 litre tank the range when towing a caravan is top ud at ever 2nd petrol station. An Suv With The Soul Of A Sports Car. — I love the performance of the truck. It has tons of power, and always has more on reserve. It's bulletproof, I've not had any problems in the time that I've owned it. It has a lot of features, and great exterior styling. One thing I don't like is the fuel economy. The gas mileage could be alot better. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Great Little Suv — Ya Know this little Suv ( Wagon ) goes just about every where I have pointed it, The only bummer about the car is long highway miles get tough no cruise control. other than that just feed her the normal maintenance and she is one tough little red wagon.
