Like its stable-mates, the livery-destined Executive trim of the Lincoln Town Car received a nominal power increase for 2001. It was especially important for the Executive, though, since this level wasn't eligible for the stronger engine (15 more horses) that came standard on the Cartier and was available in an options package on the Signature.
That is, in fact, what differentiates the Executive and the Signature; aside from the availability of that Touring package, their standard equipment and individually available options were the same. Despite its status as the lowest-priced of the 2001 Town Cars, the Executive trim was very nicely equipped with all of the expected amenities of a luxury sedan: leather, air conditioning, power-adjustable seats and pedals, traction control, and several types of air bags.
The Executive trim was not invited to the same party as the other Town Cars, though, as the front-seat heaters, like the sronger engine, could not be added. A moonroof, mud guards, and daytime running lights were available, however.

When it comes to the 2001 Lincoln Town Car the middle ground is held by the Signature trim. This is the only level of the three that was not made in an extended-wheelbase L version.
On that note, it had its own options package that the Executive trim was not eligible and the Cartier trim got as standard equipment. That would be the Signature Touring Sedan package, and its highlight was a V8 with 15 more horses than the Executive trim and the basic Signature received. Besides more horses there is also more torque, thanks to an upgraded torque converter. In addition, the Touring Sedan package added 16-inch tires on alloy wheels and a roster of about two dozen components tuned to maximize performance.
Options that were available on an individual basis for the Signature were a moonroof, front seat heaters, and a CD player. The less glamorous options were a full-sized spare, mud guards, and daytime running lights.

Lincoln did the chauffeured set a little favor in 2000 by adding an extended wheelbase edition to the Executive trim (as well as the Cartier). Since this lower-priced level was almost entirely destined for livery use, the extra legroom in the backseat was well utilized.
The other bonus of the L editions was auxiliary climate and audio controls for that back row, something else that the backseat V.I.P.s could appreciate. But whether or not these upgrades were worth the additional $4K on the MSRP could certainly be argued, although less so if the car was indeed serving as a limousine.
Standard features on the Executive L ran from the expected leather seats, air conditioning, and power accessories to the new items for the 2001 model year, traction control and power-adjustable pedals. Side-impact air bags also came on the list. Available options were a moonroof, a full-sized spare, mud guards, and daytime running lights. Buyers of this trim could not add heated front seats or the more powerful 235-horsepower engine.

More power. More amenities. More prestige. An extra exhaust pipe, even. That about sums up the Cartier trim, the highest-priced among 2001 Lincoln Town Cars.
Starting with a V8 infused with 15 more horses than the version found on the base-model Executive (and non-upgraded versions of the Signature), the Cartier came with a list of standard equipment to boast about. All Town Cars received leather seats, of course, but the Cartiers' seats also got embroidered logos and heaters in front.
The other bonuses for those who chose to pay for it all were a gold clock, embroidered floor mats, and trim-specific chrome wheels. There's even an umbrella holder on the seat back. A sunroof, CD player, mud guards, and a full-sized spare (you wouldn't want to drive this boat on a donut, would you?) were available as options.

The Cartier L was the perfect choice for those who were not only long in the tooth but long in the legs. Of course, the six extra inches of legroom in this full-sized sedan ended up in the backseat, so it was those passengers who reaped that benefit, rather than the driver, although every occupant could enjoy the improved ride afforded by the longer wheelbase.
Those closer to the trunk also had an oversized ashtray - made for cigars, of course - at their fingertips, as well as auxiliary controls for climate and audio and special "mood" lighting to create the ultimate limo ambience. The doors opened just a little wider than on the standard Cartier, making it easy for the V.I.P.s to embark and disembark.
But what is all of that without a CD player and a sunroof, which could have been added as an option, as could daytime running lights, a full-sized spare, and mud guards.
