2001 Lexus GS 300 Overview
The Lexus GS 300 received subtle styling changes in the 2001 model year which ranged from a better look to improved safety. There were no changes under the hood, where a V6 power plant produced 225 horsepower.
More wood trim was added to the interior and new E-shift buttons on the steering wheel offered manual control of the automatic transmission's shift points. Side curtain airbags became standard and a new sensor detected if the front passenger seat is unoccupied, deactivating the front passenger airbag if nobody is sitting in that seat.
Some drivers wanted more power than the V6 was capable of offering, but most drivers "love" their 2001 GS 300. "It feels like you're riding on a cloud when you drive this car, like you're separated from the rest of the world," said one driver.
